MKS Week 7: Power of Visualization

The Exercise in Week Seven of The Master Key System requires you visualize a friend, see him exactly as you last saw him, see the room, the furniture, recall the conversation, now see his face, see it distinctly, now talk to him about some subject of mutual interest; see his expression change, watch him smile.

Can you do this? All right, you can; then arouse his interest, tell him a story of adventure, see his eyes light up with the spirit of fun or excitement. Can you do all of this? If so, your imagination is good, you are making excellent progress.

The Exercise for Week Seven Explained

Through all the ages man has believed in an invisible power, through which and by which all things have been created and are continually being recreated.

We may personalize this power and call it God, or we may think of it as the essence or spirit, which permeates all things, but in either case the effect is the same.

So far as the individual is concerned, the objective, the physical, the visible, is the personal, that which can be cognized by the senses. It consists of body, brain, and nerves.

The subjective is the spiritual, the invisible, the impersonal.

The personal is conscious because it is a personal entity.

The impersonal, being the same in kind and quality as all other Being, is not conscious of itself and has therefore been termed the subconscious.

The personal, or conscious, has the power of will and choice, and can therefore exercise discrimination in the selection of methods whereby to bring about the solution of difficulties.

The impersonal, or spiritual, being a part or one with the source, and origin of all power, can necessarily exercise no such choice, but, on the contrary, it has Infinite resources at its command. It can and does bring about results by methods concerning which the human or individual mind can have no possible conception.

Utilize the potentialities of Infinity by making use of the subconscious mind.

The Benefits of the Exercise for Week Seven

Visualization is the process of making mental images, and the image is the mold or model which will serve as a pattern from which your future will emerge.

  • Make the pattern clear and make it beautiful.
  • Do not be afraid. Make it grand.

Remember that no limitation can be placed upon you by anyone but yourself. You are not limited as to cost or material. Draw on the Infinite for your supply, construct it in your imagination; it will have to be there before it will ever appear anywhere else.

  • Make the image clear and clean-cut, hold it firmly in the mind and you will gradually and constantly bring the thing nearer to you. You can be what “you will to be.”

Work is necessary – labor, hard mental labor, the kind of effort which so few are willing to put forth.

THREE STEPS TO MANIFESTATION

[1]: The first step is Idealization.

It is likewise the most important step, because it is the plan on which you are going to build. It must be solid; it must be permanent.

See the end before a single step is taken; picture in your mind what you want. You are sowing the seed, but before sowing any seed you want to know what the harvest is to be. This is Idealization.

If you are not sure, return to the chair daily until the picture because plain; it will gradually unfold.

First the general plan will be dim, but it will take shape, the outline will take form, then the details, and you will gradually develop the power by which you will be enabled to formulate plans which will eventually materialize in the objective world. You will come to know what the future holds for you.

[2]: Then comes the Process of Visualization.

You must see the picture more and more complete, see the detail, and, as the details begin to unfold the ways and means or bringing it into manifestation will develop. One thing will lead to another.

Thought will lead to action, action will develop methods, methods will develop friends, and friends will bring about circumstances, and finally, the third step, or Materialization, will have been accomplished.

We all recognize the Universe must have been thought into shape before it ever could have become a material fact. And if we are willing to follow along the lines of the Great Architect of the Universe, we shall find our thoughts taking form, just as the Universe took concrete form. It is the same mind operating through the individual. There is no difference in kind or quality, the only difference is one of degree.

If you can conscientiously follow these directions, you will develop Faith, the kind of Faith that is the “Substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

You will develop confidence, the kind of confidence that leads to endurance and courage.

You will develop the power of concentration which will enable you to exclude all thoughts except the ones which are associated with your purpose.

The law is that thought will manifest in form, and only one who knows how to be the divine thinker of his own thoughts can ever take a Mater’s place and speak with authority.

Clarity and accuracy are obtained only by repeatedly having the image in mind.

Each repeated action renders the image more clear and accurate than the preceding, and in proportion to the clarity and accuracy of the image will the outward manifestation be.

You must build it firmly and securely in your mental world, the world within, before it can take form in the world without, and you can build nothing of value, even in the mental world unless you have the proper material.

When you have the material, you can build anything you wish, but make sure of your material.

This material will be brought out by millions of silent mental workers and fashioned into the form of the image which you have in mind.

You have over five million brain cells – mental workers – ready and in active use. There is another reserve force of at least an equal number, ready to be called into action at the slightest need.

Your power to think, then, is almost unlimited, and this means that your power to create the kind of material which is necessary to build for yourself any kind of environment which you desire is practically unlimited.

In addition to these millions of mental workers, you have billions of mental workers in the body, every one of which is endowed with sufficient intelligence to understand and act upon any message or suggestion given.

These cells are all busy creating and recreating the body, but, in addition to this, they are endowed with psychic activity whereby they can attract to themselves the substance necessary for perfect development.

Tips for the Best Practice of Week Seven’s Exercise

Make the Mental Image. Make it clear, distinct, perfect. Hold it firmly. The ways and means will develop. Supply will follow the demand. You will be led to do the right thing at the right time and in the right way.

Earnest Desire will bring about Confident Expectation, and this in turn must be reinforced by Firm Demand.

These three cannot fail to bring about Attainment, because the Earnest Desire is the feeling, the Confident Expectation is the thought, and the Firm Demand is the will, and, as we have seen, feeling gives vitality to thought and the will holds it steadily until the law of Growth brings it into manifestation.

There are many who fail to bring the law into operation. The difficulty in almost every case is that they are dealing with externals. They want money, power, health, and abundance, but they fail to realize that these are effects and can come only when the cause is found.

Those who will give no attention to the world without will seek only to ascertain the truth, will look only for wisdom, will find that this wisdom will unfold and disclose the source of all power, that it will manifest in thought and purpose which will create the external conditions desired. This truth will find expression in noble purpose and courageous action.

Create ideals only, give no thought to external conditions, make the world within beautiful and opulent and the world without will express and manifest the condition which you have within. You will come into a realization of your power to create ideals and these ideals will be projected into the world of effect.

For instance, a man is in debt. He will be continually thinking about the debt, concentrating on it, and as thoughts are causes the result is that he not only fastens the debt closer to him, but actually creates more debt. He is putting the great Law of Attraction into operation with the usual and inevitable result – Loss leads to greater “Loss.”

What, then, is the correct principle?

Concentrate on the things you want, not on the things you do not want. Think of abundance, idealize the methods, and plans for putting the Law of Abundance into operation. Visualize the condition which the Law of Abundance creates; this will result in manifestation.

We must plant the seed and leave it undisturbed. This does not mean we sit and do nothing. We will do more and better work than we have ever done before, new channels will constantly be provided, new doors will open. All that is necessary is to have an open mind, be ready to act when the time comes.

Ask yourself a few questions and then reverently await the response.

Q.) Why do many fail?
A.) Because they concentrate on loss, disease, and disaster. The law is operating perfectly; the things they fear are coming upon them.

Q.) What is the alternative?
A.) Concentrate on the ideals which you desire to see manifested in your life.

MKS Week 6: Power of Attention

Reitenbach-Kissinger Institute

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-118.png

With this, Week Six of The Master Key System, we are now one-quarter of the way through the Master Key System book. It is beginning to get good now.

If you’ve been following us, the first four exercises trained us to get into the “state” of relaxation and receptivity.

We now know how to keep ourselves still, how to relax, how to quell our thoughts, and how to “let go” of discordant feelings.

With Week Five, we began our studies into visualizing, a most important aspect of personal development. Hopefully, you’ve mastered Week Five’s exercise — and had some fun with it! If so, let’s progress to Week Six…

The Exercise in Week Six of The Master Key System

24. In order to cultivate the power of attention, bring a photograph with you to the same seat in the same room in the same position as heretofore.

Examine it closely at least ten minutes: Note the expression of the eyes, the form of the features, the clothing, the way the hair is arranged — in fact, note every detail shown on the photograph carefully.

Now cover it and close your eyes and try to see it mentally. If you can see every detail perfectly and can form a good mental image of the photograph, you are to be congratulated; if not repeat the process until you can.

25. This step is simply for the purpose of preparing the soil; next week we shall be ready to sow the seed.

26. It is by such exercises as these that you will finally be able to control your mental moods, your attitude, your consciousness.

The Exercise for Week Six Explained

This exercise will be building within you two important skills: attention to detail and the power to recall. In doing so, we will be building our ability to visualize.

With a photograph in hand, take your seat in your usual place. (On the call, I explain the importance of having a place that you do these exercises.) Once you are there, get into the “state” as you learned in the first four exercises. Next, study the photograph. Cover it and then recall it from memory.

That’s about it! Mr. Haanel‘s instructions are pretty easy and clear.

The Benefits of the Exercise for Week Six

As Haanel wrote, you will be cultivating your “power of attention.” This is huge! It’s your ability to look at something and notice details that not many other people do. By mastering this exercise, you will be learning a technique that could turn you into the next Sherlock Holmes.

Along with that, you are training yourself to keep yourself in the “Now” rather than running on autopilot playing with the shibboleths in your mind. How many times have you met someone who just “wasn’t there” with you? Thus, they didn’t notice much — if anything — of what was occurring about them.

How many times was that person you?

Yes, we all get preoccupied at times. Sometimes we have a pressing concern on our mind. For too many people, though, this is a normal state of being. Even worse, they really have nothing on their mind! They’re trapped with their shadows, never noticing anything around them.

By taking the time to make note of the things around us, we begin to pay attention to all the things around us.

Digging even deeper, as we develop this power of attention, as we study a problem or research something in which we’re interested, we will see those details that others miss. Those details can then become the basis for our fortune! The examples of this happening are practically limitless.

This exercise — and skill — is very important. Master it!

Tips for the Best Practice of Week Six’s Exercise

The best tip for mastering this exercise is to follow Haanel’s instructions exactly: Use a photograph of a person. Do your best to use your same seat and place as you usually do. Notice every detail. Take your time with it. Practice until you get it right.

That’s it. Nothing fancy.

It’s funny how sometimes the more important exercises are the simplest ones. This is one of those times. It’s simple, but oh so powerful.

Until next week, please get for yourself the best of everything…

MKS Week Five: “The Creative Mind”

The Exercise in Week Five of “The Master Key System” Explained. With this exercise, we move beyond the “foundation” laid out in the first four exercises. Now, we have our first “taste” of visualization. While it is not visualization proper, it is an exercise in focusing, concentrating, and creating mental pictures.

The Exercise in Week Five of The Master Key System

29. Now, go to your room, take the same seat, the same position as heretofore, and mentally select a place which has pleasant associations. Make a complete mental picture of it — see the buildings, the grounds, the trees, friends, associations, everything complete. At first, you will find yourself thinking of everything under the sun, except the ideal upon which you desire to concentrate. But do not let that discourage you. Persistence will win, but persistence requires that you practice these exercises every day without fail.

The Exercise for Week Five Explained

Charles F. Haanel organised the exercises in The Master Key System perfectly. You will come to realize that as you explore them.

The first four exercises are what we have come to call the “foundation” exercises. They built the foundation upon which all of the subsequent exercises will be laid. These exercises are essential for getting you into the “state” so that you can easily do the remaining exercises and so that you will be receptive to the results that you are seeking.

So, with the first four exercises mastered, we have this exercise for Week Five.

As usual, you are to take your regular seat and assume the position that you have been mastering since Week One: sitting with your feet on the floor, your hands on your thighs, your back erect, your eyes closed. Once you are there, you are now to make a “complete mental picture” of a “place that has pleasant associations.”

That “place” can be anything you wish! Your childhood home. A farm you visited. A beach. A city. An office. Any place!

The key is to make your mental picture “complete.” You want the picture to be very detailed, very lush, and very realistic. You are aiming to such a detailed picture that it is almost a “virtual reality.”

Within this exercises, Haanel anticipates that it may be difficult for some people. Those people may not be very “visual” people. He does ask that we persevere, though. And we should!

Haanel is building within you the ability to picture anything you wish in your mind.

As we’ll see, those pictures will be  very important. That’s why for this exercise, Haanel is starting us with something simple: visualizing a place that we enjoy.

That makes it an exercise that we will want to do! After all, it is fun to reminisce or fantasize about a pleasant place. The difference is that we are not doing either: we are visualizing and aiming to make the picture complete and detailed, to “see the buildings, the grounds, the trees, friends, associations, everything complete.”

Do your best and make your vision as complete as you can. With practice, you will be able to see it perfectly!

The Benefits of the Exercise for Week Five

Much like going to a gym will increase your ability to run longer or lift heavier items, this exercise will begin to awaken or it will strengthen your ability to create mental pictures. You will be able to almost lose yourself in the details of your mental images.

That can be and will be a very powerful tool for you.

This exercise will also begin to fire parts of your brain you may not have been “using” prior to this.

Also, this exercise, when fully perfected, will just make you feel good. Seriously. I have heard time and time again from folks who do this exercises and actually feel themselves at the beach or on the farm. It’s amazing! They often state that afterwards it’s like they had a small vacation.

Tips for the Best Practice of Week Five’s Exercise

You can practice this exercise anywhere. To really get this exercise mastered, the key is to select just one place and continue to return to it.

The people who don’t perfect this exercise generally have one thing in common: one day they “go” to the beach; the next they “go” to their favorite city; and so on. They never just select that one place!

And that is the key here.

By selecting just one place and for one week continual revisiting it, you will access those details that your brain is storing and activate them. With each pass, you will be adding details after detail, until your picture is “complete.”

So, select just one place! Just one! And run with it.

Until next week, please get for yourself the best of everything…
