They help us to understand how everything works together in order and harmony.
And no, they’re not law according to science but that doesn’t mean they’re not true. If you look around, you’ll begin to see evidence of them everywhere. (Besides, you can’t see the law of gravity though either right?)
Trying to defy the laws is futile. You might be think you’re doing it for a little while but it’ll catch up with you eventually – usually with a whole lotta drama, struggle and conflict!
Learning to live in accordance with the universal laws will bring you a happier and more fulfilled life.
You’ll find less struggle and more flow. You’ll find more certainty and less confusion. You’ll feel supported as you let them help you navigate through your life’s path.
UNIVERSAL LAW #1: The Law of One
Separation is an illusion. Everyone and everything is connected to everyone and everything else. We’re all part of the same creation, all part of the same collective consciousness, all part of the same vibration. The more false barriers we put up between us (race, socio-economic status, clique etc.) the less in touch we become with ourselves.
UNIVERSAL LAW #2: Law of Vibration/Energy
Everything is energy! Everything in the entire Universe is made up of a vibration. This is true in physics as with everything else. Energy can only transform, never die. It must go forward or back, but it can never stand still because that is stagnation. The only thing we have control over is the level of vibration.
UNIVERSAL LAW #3: Law of Correspondence
As above, so below! The Law of Correspondence is sometimes also called the Law of Attraction. But it’s all the same thing: like attracts like. What happens on the inside gets reflected on the outside and what you focus on expands. Every action we take has a reaction or consequence. We reap what we sow and you get back what you put out. So basically you can’t take negative action and not expect to feel some kick-back! It’s always wise to consider the true ramifications of your actions!
UNIVERSAL LAW #5: Law of Resistance
What you resist persists. You can’t stick your head in the sand and ignore your life! Failing to acknowledge a situation means you’re not really stepping up and dealing with it. And attempting to avoid it means it’s not going to go away! Resistance is fear and you must learn to conquer your fear if you want to resolve your issues.
UNIVERSAL LAW #6: Law of Transmutation
Every single one of us has the power to change our reality through transmutation. Creating a higher vibration vibrations allows us to transmute the lower ones. It’s all up to us to make the effort to change our own life!
UNIVERSAL LAW #7: Law of Manifestation
Thoughts + action = manifestation. Everything that we’ve created began as a thought. If you want to change your life, the change begins inside your own head. You have to dream of it before it can ever happen! The limits you put on yourself are the only things holding you back.

The thoughts we hold in our mind influence our world. Our words, feelings and behaviour also affect the world around us and our beliefs (conscious or not) . Believing subconsciously that rich people are morally bankrupt or that there are no good single men left in the world will result in those things becoming our reality! Actions are simply energy in motion. Inspired action is action that supports our desires and goals and that kind of action is always required for manifestation. You can’t just sit back and wait for the miracle! You need to put in a bit of elbow grease.

Expressing unconditional love results in a harmonious life. But to be clear, unconditional love is a lot bigger than romantic love! It’s about accepting the people in your life exactly the way they are without judgment or expectation. It does not involve changing people or using them to your benefit! It’s about pure acceptance.
UNIVERSAL LAW #11: Law of Prosperity
The more you give, the more you get! The more service and value you offer the world, the more money you’ll receive in return! So if you’re having trouble with money, be less concerned with the paycheck and more concerned with how much you’re giving away. The money will always follow.

Expect an initiation period, a time of learning before things come together. Everyone experiences challenges in life, even when you’re on the right path! We’re given challenges for a reason so use them as an opportunity to learn and grow. They’ve been brought to us to make us or our our mission even stronger.
UNIVERSAL LAW #13: Law of Charity
The more you give away, the more you receive. When you’re generous, you’ll receive generosity back. Giving help (financial or otherwise) will never deplete you; that energy will actually come back to you even stronger. Don’t be stingy! You’ll always be rewarded for your acts of charity.
UNIVERSAL LAW #14: Law of Reflection
We see the traits in others that we exist in ourselves. So think about what you comment on (positive or negative!) in celebrities and the people around you. The things that you love and admire in others are things that exist within you. Likewise, the things that you resist or find unpleasant in others, are things that exist within you. The world is just a mirror for you. So take a look around and evaluate what you see!
UNIVERSAL LAW #15: Law of Fellowship
Combining our efforts with those around us allows us to generate a bigger and better outcome. When two people of similar vibrations unite for a purpose, their energy is more than doubled towards that goal. So look for ways you can harness and amplify this energy. Finding more like-minded friends is a wonderful first step!
UNIVERSAL LAW #16: Law of Gender
Everything has both masculine and feminine energy, yin and yang. The attraction between the two is how creation happens. Finding a balance between the two energies in yourself and in your relationships creates a harmonious experience.
UNIVERSAL LAW #17: Law of Evolution
There is no real death. We’re continually evolving at the soul level and evolution is infinite. On the surface it might not appear that you’re making progress at times, but your soul is always growing and expanding. Every experience – even mistakes and failures – are allowing our soul to expand. (And let’s face it, those experiences often bring on very sudden growth!)
UNIVERSAL LAW #18: Law of Rhythm
Life will always ebb and flow. It moves with the years, the seasons, the stages of development, El Nino. It’s unrealistic to expect things to only move on fast-forward. Settle in and move with the currents, not against them for maximum flow and ease.
UNIVERSAL LAW #19: Law of Harmony
Harmony is the opposite of chaos; it’s the ultimate balance in life and the purpose of Karma. Throwing a rock in a pond will create ripples for a while until everything settles back into its natural harmonious state. Creating disharmonious acts does the same thing, only instead of spreading harmonious energy out you’re spreading disharmony. Harmony works closely with the Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Attraction.
UNIVERSAL LAW #20: Law of Polarity
Opposites are just two extremes of the same thing. They might differ by degrees but they occupy the same spectrum. Finding a balance between the two ends is usually the best way to create a happy existence.
UNIVERSAL LAW #21: Law of Divine Order
Everything is exactly as it should be! There are no accidents in life. Every seemingly negative event leads us to a new path. All of your experiences were meant to happen. Accept them for what they are and for letting them shape your journey.

Here is an example of each law in action in the everyday world.
- The Law of Mentalism. Every thing that appears in your world was once a thought you had. When I teach students metaphysics, I ask them to indicate an important event in their life and then to return to the place in time when they planted the seed for this event with a thought. A woman told me she had suffered in poverty for 7 years having foolishly bought a business in the worst part of town. She realized this was because once she had prayed to experience as broad and as deep a life as possible. That was when this seed was planted.
- The Law of Correspondence. This law teaches us that we can understand the unseen by carefully observing what we can see with our own two eyes. When a woman is about to go out on a date with a new man, I encourage her to look at how he treats the waitress and how he eats his meal. This is the way he will be treating her and having sex with her after his guard is down (should she choose to continue to date him).
- The Law of Vibration. Everything vibrates. Nothing is still. This Law helps us to understand the essence of things. It is this fine network of vibrations that connects us with every other living thing. You might picture it as an invisible world wide web. It is in tune with the vibrations of the universe that we attract and are attracted to every experience in our life. To use a metaphor, suppose you like country and western music. If you set your radio dial to country and western you will not hear classical or jazz music. If you vibrate at a peaceful level, you will not meet people who are violent.
- The Law of Polarity. Everything has its opposite. This law helps us to understand the principles of yin and yang. Some energy attracts and some energy repels. One is not better than the other but both exist. I like to think of the astronomical world where one body can capture another by pulling it into its sphere of influence. This principle can be understood in life when we recognize the truth in this saying: If you want him to be more of a man, be more of a woman.
- The Law of Rhythm. The pendulum swing manifests in everything. The measure of the swing to the left is the measure of the swing to the right. This law operates in life quite visibly with people who are bipolar. One day they’re up, the next they’re down. For most people, the law is realized when they become very, very happy. The law dictates that next they will be very, very sad. To correct this is simple: To avoid being very unhappy, avoid being very happy.

- Gender: Gender manifests on all planes. This law works in our lives by helping us to see that each male has an inner female within him and each female has an inner male. You’ll find it a very practical night and, at the same time, a spiritual night. We’ll call it “God’s Law.” Paul said, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, so shall he also reap” (Gal. 6:7).
Here we find the principle of the identical harvest: Whatever you sow, that you reap. “See yonder fields? The sesamum was sesamum, the corn was corn. The silence and the darkness knew. So is a man’s fate born” (Light of Asia).
So we are told in the very 1stt chapter of Genesis, “Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each after its own kind” (verse 11).
Then we are told in the same Book in the 8th chapter that “As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest shall not cease” (verse 22). So everything that is happening to us, but everything, good, bad and indifferent, is happening because some imaginal act brought it into being.
Now you may think, well now, this is a horrible thing. I, in my ignorance, imagined so many unlovely things. Must I live with it? I planted it. If this is a law and it endures forever, I can’t deny if this is God’s law that whatever is taking place now in my world, I brought it into being because I imagined it at some moment in time; a moment, if it is unpleasant, when I was ignorant of God’s law.
Nevertheless, he is no respecter of persons and here I am living with horrible fruit, where I in my ignorance planted it. But we need not despair.
There is a still greater law than that, a much greater law! And the law is, as we are told, “With the pure, thou showest thyself pure; with the crooked, thou showest thyself perverse.” That confirms that law, that the universe is only infinite response; so, what I think him to be that he will be to me.
But in the 130th Psalm, you will find something far more profound than this. Here the Psalmist makes the statement that if you would mark the iniquities, who could stand?
“If thou, O Lord, mark the iniquities, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with thee” (verses 3, 4). So you need not ask anyone in this world why he did what he did to bring about the conditions that now he doesn’t want in the world.
Don’t analyze it; don’t dig as to why he did it. He could have done it deliberately; he could have done it in ignorance. But here is a law that transcends this law of planting and reaping: It is the law of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is simply revision, or you may call it repentance. But the Bible speaks of it as repentance, and speaks of it as forgiveness. You come upon a scene…alright, you don’t like the scene, and it’s factual, no question about it, and you know that someone somewhere brought it into being by first imagining a scene of that nature because it couldn’t come into being unassisted by an imaginal act. “Resist not evil. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Nothing on earth can resist an absolutely nonresistant person. The Chinese say that water is the most powerful element, because it is perfectly nonresistant. It can wear away a rock, and sweep all before it.
Jesus Christ said, “Resist not evil,” for He knew in reality, there is no evil, therefore nothing to resist. Evil has come of man’s “vain imagination,” or a belief in two powers, good and evil. There is an old legend, that Adam and Eve ate of “Maya the Tree of Illusion,” and saw two powers instead of one power, God.
Therefore, evil is a false law man has made for himself, through psychoma or soul sleep. Soul sleep means, that man’s soul has been hypnotized by the race belief (of sin, sickness and death, etc.) which is carnal or mortal thought, and his affairs have out-pictured his illusions.
That man’s soul is his subconscious mind, and whatever he feels deeply, good or bad, is outpictured by that faithful servant. His body and affairs show forth what he has been picturing. The sick man has pictured sickness, the poor man, poverty, the rich man, wealth. People often say, “why does a little child attract illness, when it is too young even to know what it means?” I answer that children are sensitive and receptive to the thoughts of others about them, and often outpicture the fears of their parents.
I heard a metaphysician once say, “If you do not run your subconscious mind yourself, someone else will run it for you.” Mothers often, unconsciously, attract illness and disaster to their children, by continually holding them in thoughts of fear, and watching for symptoms.
For example: A friend asked a woman if her little girl had had the measles. She replied promptly, “not yet!” This implied that she was expecting the illness, and, therefore, preparing the way for what she did not want for herself and child. However, the man who is centered and established in right thinking, the man who sends out only good-will to his fellow-man, and who is without fear, cannot be touched or influenced by the negative thoughts of others. In fact, he could then receive only good thoughts, as he himself, sends forth only good thoughts. Law Of One: Accelerating Personal Evolution The Meaning & Purpose Of Life, The Universe & Everything
The Law of One, also known as the The Ra Material, is a series of five philosophical monographs published between 1982 and 1998 by Schiffer Books. The books purportedly were authored by a non-human intelligence named Ra through the process of channeling, in which Don Elkins acted as the questioner, Jim McCarty as the scribe and Carla L. Rueckert as the channel for Ra.
The 5 book series presents both commentary and full transcripts of the dialogue between the questioner and Ra, who is described as an entity composed of an entire civilization of extraterrestrial beings that are fused into one unified consciousness. The introduction to the first book explains that the questioner is Don Elkins and that Ra is a higher density being.
A sixth density lifeform of pure energy (spirit), speaking through the body of channeler Carla L. Rueckert. Carla L. Rueckert transmitted the material by entering into a non-conscious state (which the authors call an “unconscious trance”) where she became a communication channel or “instrument” for Ra to utilize in order for them to communicate to our level of reality and answer the questions posed by Don Elkins.
The answers were interpreted to be direct communications with Ra, which is in line with standard views on channeling. The books are written in a question and answer format. The dialogue between Don Elkins and Ra was recorded, transcribed, and edited by Jim McCarty to produce the 5 books. The material in the books conveys an elaborate and grand reality. Ultimately described as being called The Law of One or the basic principle that “all is One”, that all “things” that exist are ultimately the same “essence” within many forms and configurations. The Law Of One – Densities Of Experience
There has been a lot of confusion in the explanation of the word density and what 4th density truly is as it is explained in the ra material and the law of one.
Density is about complexity. Photons of light with a greater density of information. The densities of experience are a series of environments, from the first through the seventh density, each succeeding density designed to function to offer us material for the evolution of our bodies, minds and spirits.
Each density or grade has inner or thought planes and outer or physical planes. Supposedly we are now in third density.
But what is a density, exactly? Various disciplines use the word in different ways. The dictionary definition of density is the quality of being dense, close or compact or the quantity or number of something per unit.
In physics it is defined as the ratio of the mass of an object to its volume. The supply is always equal to the demand—equal to the demand when the demand is rightly, wisely made. Are you out of a situation? Let the fear that you will not get another take hold of and dominate you, and the chances are that it may be a long time before you will get another, or the one that you do get may be a very poor one indeed. New Channelings On The New Earth The 12 Densities & The 8 Dispensations
Our role is to come to planets at the end of their cosmic cycles or major cyclical events in order to assist them in what has been called the “harvest” or the “ascension.” Our intelligence is able to help boost souls who wish to go through the ascension process.
Whenever we are talking about specific vibratory states, we will use the word “density,” and when we are talking primarily about a realm of existence, we will use the term “dimension. The words “higher” and “lower” refer only to specific frequencies and not to quality of being or self-worth. Higher is not better than lower, but is more expansive and all-encompassing.
To help you understand our perception of Creation, we will use a variety of approaches and teaching methods. This is because Earth has a multiple-tiered layering of vibratory levels, or densities. You have what is known as first density Earth, which is roughly likened to your mineral kingdom — the stones, rocks and geological layers you find in Earth’s crust.
You have what is called your second density Earth, which includes the vegetation and plant life. This is life that adheres to certain laws and principles of propagation, such as breathing in carbon dioxide and breathing out oxygen, photosynthesis, etc.
You have your third density Earth, which is comprised of your animal forms and what could be called your lower human attributes, including the part of the human being that is primarily preoccupied with procreation, sexual instincts, hunter instincts, and the like.
You have the fourth density Earth, which includes the world of the higher human and refined intellect — art, music, conscious awareness, imagination, creativity, and what you call “metaphysics” and such.
And you have your fifth density Earth that includes the etheric light body form of the human, which is still merely potential in most cases. There is an aspect of the Godhead that is still evolving.
An extremely simple allegorical and metaphorical analogy is as follows: During the process of exploring His own Creation, God learns through trial and error what works and does not work regarding the evolution of the soul. In order to correct the “mistakes” within the original design, certain “corrections” are periodically made in the form of Divine Dispensations.
You could say these are God’s responses to the problems inherent within the free will system of universes. It is difficult for many souls to accept the premise that within the perfection of the Creator are imperfections, but that is the way most souls experience the manifest Creation. It is important to move out of judgment and simply accept that the Creation has imperfections. Let us use the example of software for one of your computers.
As you know, periodic upgrades are issued that correct the problems of the previous versions. Rather than cursing the previous versions, you simply accept the reality of upgrading your computer system. Another analogy that might be appropriate is that of the bylaws within the constitutions that govern many of your individual countries on Earth.
In some of your developed nations, you have amendments to the original founding documents that were created when problems were discovered within the original rules and principles. God, in His Infinite Wisdom and Compassion, issues fiats or declarations that change universal laws and principles, or makes exceptions for them, in various ways. Imagination: My Slave – Neville Goddard
So here, the entire outer world is solely produced by Imagining. “All that you behold, though it appears without, it is within, in your Imagination, of which this world of mortality is but a shadow.” If it is a shadow, then let me find that which is causing the shadow…and the cause of the shadow is your imaginal activities.
What are we imagining that is the cause of the shadows which we think so objectively real and so completely independent of our perception of them?
All these things seem so completely independent of our perception of them and they’re all cast by our own imaginal activities.
So you get into a state of wealth, alright, the state of wealth—you don’t have to find out how it’s going to happen—a state of health, a state of being known, a state of being wanted, a state of being contributing to the world, any state…these are all states.
And while you remain in the state, they can do their best to rub out what you’re casting. Let them rub out shadows by blocking this, but they can’t rub out the cause of it all, and it always reproduces itself.
The whole vast world is reproducing itself based upon the state that you occupy. So they can’t rub anything out that you are doing by rubbing out things that you do. Cut off the head of a chicken and you are in a state, and you could use all the chickens in the world, because no matter what they do in the outer world it’s what you are doing within yourself.
“Man is all Imagination and God is man, and exists in us and we in him. The eternal body of man is the Imagination, and that is God himself; the divine body, Jesus. And we, on the surface, are his members” (Blake, Laocoon, Annot. to Berkeley). All are the members of this one divine body…and only this one body.
All are gathered into a unity in the one body which is God. Now you can call it God, call it Jehovah, if that satisfies you, call it Jesus Christ. I like that name, I’ll tell you, Jesus Christ. You say I am the Lord who sent you. You say Imagination, and you’re here in a group like this that you may understand and get behind names and surfaces; but in the outer world I wouldn’t use it, because they wouldn’t understand.
And so you would use the word Jehovah, instantly the mind goes there. Use the word Jesus, jumps out there. Not only in space, it jumps out there in time, away out there, well, unnumbered centuries ago. It jumps if you use the word Jehovah or Jesus. If you use the word I AM, it can’t jump. There’s no place you can go; you can’t go outside of the present moment. And if you actually show people what you mean by it, that I AM is a creative power, and it creates by imagining, well then, it must be here.
You just can’t get outside of the present moment in time when you use these terms, but you can only use them in a group like this when they come as you come for instruction. So I tell you I am completely awake and know I have been sent to tell you what I’m telling you. For I’m not talking to another, really, I’m only talking to myself, all wonderful aspects of myself, all being withdrawn now, all coming back through infinite levels of awareness to the one being that I am. The Word – Neville Goddard
If I titled it, I would call it “The Word.” We’re told in the 17th chapter of the Book of Luke that “he came to a certain village and ten lepers raised their voices and said, ‘Master, have mercy on us’ and looking at them he said, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ As they went they were cleansed” (verse 12). So every word of scripture is a message to us, for the Bible is simply the word of God that would not keep silent and could be expressed in no other way…just poured through those who were qualified to receive it.
So in this simple little story you and I could transform our entire world if we could only extract its message. What is the story trying to tell us? When you hear the word “leper” you think of some unclean person who is put aside from society and they cannot mingle with man because they are unclean, and it’s contagious. But you and I have been put aside and ostracized socially, financially, intellectually, ostracized in a thousand ways…and we are the lepers.
So what is this story trying to tell us?
He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” Well, in the ancient world the priest was not only the one who instructed man in the word of God, he was also the physician, and only a certificate of approval from him could allow one who was ostracized to mingle freely with the crowd. So show yourself to the priests and if he approves of your cleanliness, he will give you that certificate of approval; then you can mingle freely with the crowd.
And as they went they were cleansed. What a story! You and I as we are here, suppose now we were embarrassed, say, financially, how would I take this story and become cleansed of that poverty and find myself in a sense of security, how would I do it?
First of all, there is an action here: To produce the new requires a complete rearrangement of the furniture of the mind. Well, the furniture of my mind, your mind, our minds, is simply those that we know. We have friends, we have relatives, and all of these people, all really, are bits of furniture in the mind.
Any rearrangement would change meaning, wouldn’t it, but any rearrangement. And so, were I tonight in an office and I desired a higher position in that office with greater responsibility and more income, I would in my mind’s eye see the same office and see myself occupying a different position in that office. And that change would automatically change me relative to everyone in that office. Everyone would have to see me differently, for I would see them differently. ___(??)
I now see everyone differently in that state. And just make them, for one little moment, just make them remain stationary in my mind’s eye as I would set you up for a portrait. If I’m going to take a picture of you, I would ask you to pose in a certain way; when I get it just right, then I’ll snap it.
So in my mind’s eye I make it, I make this rearranged structure of the mind, remaining stationary long enough for me to actually take a picture of it, a mental picture. You look at it mentally and you inhale until you feel a sense of relief. A peculiar thrill goes through you. For all of the pleasures of the world, relief is the most keenly felt.
I think anyone has had this…anyone here undoubtedly you’ve had this experience…you’re waiting for someone to come home and they are late, and you love them…could be a child. But they’re late. It’s an hour late, maybe it’s two hours. You get more and more tense. Then you hear the familiar footsteps or the familiar voice and that relief that comes…there is no pleasure in the world comparable to relief. Is there something you want? A new job, better health, a new relationship? Orison Swett Marden discusses this in his book How To Get What You Want. In this episode I cover one chapter from this books which was so profound and powerful I had to read it right away.
Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1848–1924) was an American inspirational author who wrote about achieving success in life and founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897. His writings discuss common-sense principles and virtues that make for a well-rounded, successful life.
Many of his ideas are based on New Thought philosophy. His first book, Pushing to the Front (1894), became an instant best-seller. Marden later published fifty or more books and booklets, averaging two titles per year. In addition to Samuel Smiles, Marden cited as influences on his thinking the works of Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. and Ralph Waldo Emerson, both of whom were influential forerunners of what, by the 1890s, was called the New Thought Movement.
Like many proponents of the New Thought philosophy, Marden believed that our thoughts influence our lives and our life circumstances. He said, “We make the world we live in and shape our own environment.
“Yet although he is best known for his books on financial success, he always emphasized that this would come as a result of cultivating one’s personal development: “The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.”
Marden wrote in an energetic and readable style that used simple, yet lucid vocabulary. He favored the “bold headline” approach and presented his ideas with brevity, directness and clarity. It was perhaps owing to his business background that he could pack so much “punch” into a mere few words. He also carried a distinctive American tone and syntax that modern readers may easily relate to.
Among the many subjects to be found in his writings, perhaps his strongest were in business, salesmanship and the art of balanced living. Other interests include literature, history, philosophy, biography, fine art, education, psychology, and physical health.
Like Samuel Smiles, he expounded upon many of the virtues that make up success, such as self-reliance, perseverance, and hard work. His writings breathe a spirit of “lofty austerity” and focus on themes of adversity and triumph, defeat and victory, failure and success.”
Marden often kept his writings simple, concrete, and grounded in reality. Indeed, he advises young writers to “Live, Then Write” and to “Keep Close to Life.”[19] Yet along with this simplicity, his writings also displayed a remarkable talent for rhetorical flight.
Marden made frequent use of metaphors and similes in conveying ethical principles and moral lessons. Objects or scenes observable in nature such as rocks, marbles, streams, trees, snows, and tempests imparted a sublime, poetic depth to his writing: The frost, the snows, the tempests, the lightnings, are the rough teachers that bring the tiny acorn to the sturdy oak…Obstacles, hardships are the chisel and mallet which shape the strong life into beauty. Imagining Creates Reality – Neville Goddard
This principle works. If you are here for the first time, you may hear a certain phrase that may not seem familiar, but I assure you it has biblical support. I may change the word and it may sound unfamiliar, but I assure you, it’s all scripture. When I make the bold claim that imagining creates reality that is only scripture. You will not find it stated in that manner in scripture, but you will find these words, “All things are possible to him who believes.” You’ll find it in the 9th chapter of the Book of Mark. Then you read the 11th chapter, “Whatever you desire when you pray, believe that you have received it, and you will” (Mark 11:2). No limits are put upon the power of belief, none whatsoever. It doesn’t say it’s good for you. You be the judge. It doesn’t say that others will agree with your choice. It leaves it entirely up to you. Whatever you desire, not what others think you ought to desire. Maybe it is not a wise choice on your part, but that’s not part of the principle. The principle is that all things are possible to him who believes. Therefore, the secret is how to believe. How could I be self-persuaded when reason denies it, when my senses deny it, when everything in the world denies it? Can I really persuade myself in the face of such denial? I must learn the art of such firm self-persuasion. For, if everything is mine if I want it and all depends only on my ability to become self-persuaded that it is true, then I must imagine as if it were true. Now, if I said to you that whatever you believe, if you persist in it, it will come to pass, that all things are possible to him who believes, would you believe it? So if you asked me, “Have you any reason for making that bold assertion?” If I quoted scripture and said, these are the words of Jesus Christ, you might say, “Well, after all, that’s Jesus Christ, but I am simply John Brown, and I cannot bring myself to believe that whatever I assume that I am, if I persist in it, that it will become a reality.” That is only because you do not know who Jesus Christ is: Jesus Christ is the true identity of every man. The Law Of Karma And The Law Of Forgiveness – Florence Scovel Shinn
This is the law of Karma, which is Sanskrit for “Comeback.” “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” I just love the writing of Florence Scovel Shinn. I imagine meeting her and being so sure and sassy at the same time.
There is a playful teaching in each of her books. Florence Scovel Shinn’s writing shares some common beliefs with Mary Baker Eddy, and there is some shared terminology. e.g. ‘Infinite Spirit’, ‘Mortal Mind’, ‘Treatment’, ‘Demonstration’ and ‘Native Nothingness’.
However her writing style is more familiar and less verbose than that of Mary Baker Eddy. As in Christian Science, Florence Scovel Shinn questions the reality of evil: “Jesus Christ said: “Resist not evil,” for He knew in reality, there is no evil, therefore nothing to resist.[1] Also Scovel Shinn makes less of the illusion of matter, an argument that dominates Mary Baker Eddy’s work Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures.
Scovel Shinn’s emphasis on the power of the spoken word may have been influenced by Emma Curtis Hopkins. Florence Scovel’s books are widely discussed and admired in Unity Churches around the globe. Florence Scovel Shinn (9/21/1871 – 10/17/1940) was a part of what people call either the “Law of Attraction” or “New Thought” movement. The idea is that we can plant new thought seeds Into the garden of the subconscious.
In other words we can reprogram our subconscious and then tap into that energy to create a new world for us and attract what we want to attract. She’s best known for her book “The Game of Life and How to Play It.”
In Shinn’s book “The Game of Life And How To Play It” she discusses the rules of the game of life as laws. Some of the laws she discusses: The Law of Expectancy: Shinn emphasizes the power of the imagination to bring about life events: “Whatever man feels deeply or images clearly, is impressed upon the subconscious mind, and carried out in minutest detail.”
The power of words: “Jesus Christ taught that man’s words played a leading part in the game of life. ‘By your words ye are justified and by your words ye are condemned’.” [Matthew 12:37]
The Law of Substitution: According to Florence Scovel Shinn, sometimes our desires are misdirected: “Many people are in ignorance of their true destinies and are striving for things and situations which do not belong to them, and would only bring failure and dissatisfaction if attained.”
The Law of Karma: the Law of Karma is also known as the Law of Cause and Effect: “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” This means that whatever man sends out in word or deed, will return to him; what he gives, he will receive.
The Law of Non Resistance: The Law of Non Resistance may be considered a sensible corollary to the Law of Karma, i.e. do not react to a negative situation with more negativity, as that will bring back more harm down the track.
The Law of Forgiveness: Though Karma is a powerful law, Shinn explains that the Law of Forgiveness or Grace is a higher law. “Christianity is founded upon the law of forgiveness – Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Karmic law, and the Christ within each man is his Redeemer and Salvation from all inharmonious conditions.”
The Law of Use: Shinn explains that a gift is a better investment than a savings account. “Many people are in ignorance of the fact that gifts and things are investments, and that hoarding and saving invariably lead to loss.”
The Law of Love: Shinn quotes Jesus when she explains the importance of love. “Every man on this planet is taking his initiation in love. “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another.” Florence Scovel Shinn The Law Of Karma And The Law Of Forgiveness
On The Law: Test Yourselves – Neville Goddard
You’ll find this a very practical night, something that you can prove in the immediate present. We are told in scripture to examine ourselves—this is the 13th chapter of 2nd Corinthians, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” (verse 5).
Now, what is the test, for I’m supposed to examine myself. … So I say to everyone here take what I tell you this night, it will not fail you, but remember, you are the operant power, it doesn’t operate itself. You have to move, and you move from wherever you are to where you would be if what you would like to be you are. You move into that state and fall asleep in it just as though it were true, and that’s what happens.
Now, when it comes to the Promise that’s something entirely different. You will find that you will have eyes, eyes given you by one who was sent, and he will give you eyes to see who he told you that he was. No one in this world will know who he really is by words. He gives you eyes that you may actually see that he really is the being that he tells you that he is. Then you will know.
The day will come, you, too, will give eyes to others that they may know that you are who you tell them that you are. And it goes on this way until there’s only at the end one body, one Lord, one God and Father of all. But don’t forget what I told you this night concerning the use of God’s law. “So examine yourselves to see whether you are holding to the faith.”
Do you really hold to the faith? If you believe this that I’ve told you this night, well then, examine yourself in the course of a day, are you holding to the faith? Test yourself to see.
Now test yourself, am I really holding to the faith? Did I this day read a paper which sent me into the gutter and accept it? Did I receive a letter or something that pressed me into the gutter and I accepted it? Or did I actually hold to the faith and the faith is all psychological. I don’t have to accept anything that comes to me from the outside unless it conforms to what I’ve done.
So no matter what comes, whether it be the newspaper or the radio or the TV or mail, if it doesn’t conform to what I want, I don’t accept it. If I don’t accept it, don’t just remain that way put something in its place and revise it completely. For in her vision it was not only The Credence of Faith but The Forgiveness of Sin. And to forgive sin tests the individual’s ability to enter into and partake of the nature of the opposite. So what is the opposite of what I heard? Let me show you how we actually operate this simple, simple principle. Instead of withdrawing from the body unknowingly into any old state, you withdraw deliberately into a predetermined state. So you put the body on the bed or on the chair and you imagine yourself in the state predetermined, a state you really want to realize in this world. You want to be successful? With whom would you share it, a few friends at a little dinner party, or a luncheon, or a tea, or a cocktail party, any kind of a party where they would discuss your success and truly discuss it in the sense that they would be happy about it? Well now, know exactly where you’re going to go while you are still seated, anchored to this body; and then let the body relax, and get into that area in your mind’s eye where your friends are present and you’re all discussing your success.
And it all seems natural…you are accepting their praise, accepting their congratulations, and it seems very, very natural, with all of the sensory tones of reality. Then, return to the body…and follow Feynman’s concept—-it starts from where it hasn’t been and it speeds to where it was an instant ago. As it arrives there, it is bounced so hard it’s turned around, it’s time sense is turned around, and now it returns to where it hasn’t been. See it? It starts in time from where it hasn’t yet realized the state, and moves back to where physically it was only an instant ago; and then it’s bounced and turned around, and it moves now across this bridge of incident leading up to the fulfillment of that state in consciousness where you were…where all these friends were gathered together to congratulate you on your good fortune. And that’s how it works.
So tonight when you go home, if you can’t do it here, when you go home do it. Just simply withdraw from your body. You can easily do it. And may I tell you, there’s no thrill comparable to this discovery of the soul of man, because as you withdraw and you sit elsewhere thinking of the body as you left it, when you return you feel the whole return. You actually feel something you can never feel while you are all anchored in the body. You feel it and you sense the reality of something that cannot be detected by mortal eye. You don’t have to go a hundred miles away. I used to practice this in New York City: Sitting in my chair in the living room, I would put myself at the telephone, which I could not see from the angle when I was looking in the living room. While I was at the telephone just simply talking, I would suddenly assume I am back. And that sensation of return…I discovered through that act this feeling in me that is the power of sense. For imagining is that wonderful sensitive power in man; it’s the soul of man. Imagination is simply this peculiar reality, really, that you don’t know until you try this.
