Application of 13 Principles to Get Whatever You Want

1st Principle – Burning Desir- DESIRE (The First Step Toward Riches) 49:31 How To Turn Your Desires And Ideals Into Reality By Brown Landone (Unabridged Audiobook)

2nd Principle – FAITH (The Second Step Toward Riches)  1:36:44U.S. Andersen – The 30 Day Mental Diet

Daily Self-confidence Affirmation-Meditation

I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my definite purpose in life, therefore, I demand of myself persistent, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.

The dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward physical action and gradually transform themselves into physical reality. Therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for 30 minutes daily upon the task of thinking of the person that I intend to become. Thereby creating in my mind, a clear mental picture.

I know through the theory of autosuggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek some expression through some practical means of obtaining the object or position I desire.

I have clearly written down a description of my definite chief aim and I will never stop trying until I develop sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.

I realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice. I will engage in no transaction that will not benefit all whom it effects.

I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces that I wish to use and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve them.

I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism by developing love for all humanity for I know that a negative attitude toward others will never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me because I will believe in them and in myself.

I will sign my name to this formula commit to memory and repeat it aloud once a day in full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and actions so I will become a self-reliant and successful person.

The Top 27 Amway Diamond Success Stories

# 27: Robert and Lois Stonelake

The Stonelake’s helped put Amway on the map. They built a huge organization within Amway and then sold their business in 1985, thinking that Amway was on the downswing. Their (former) downline now has millions of people in it, with leaders such as Jim and Nancy Dornan and Kaoru Nakajima, both successful distributors on this list.

# 26: Fred and Bernice Hansen

Fred was a successful distributor in Nutrilite with Rich and Jay and helped them launch Amway. Fred and Bernice achieved Crown in 1975. Sadly, Fred died in 1968 and Bernice passed away in 2012. Their business is now managed by their children.

# 25: Donald and Ruth Storms

They were Crowns in the business and part of the Dexter Yager organization. Sadly, Don passed away a few years ago. Don Storms is an Executive Diamond with Amway. He is also an ex-minister, who spent 13 years traveling the country with a gospel quartet, before teaming up with Jim Bakker and becoming a senior vice president at the PTL Club. In 1979, he and wife Ruth started their Amway business. Today, Storms is a real estate developer, in addition to his Amway business, according to MLM on July 13, 1999.  Source

# 24: Kenny and Donna Stewart

Kenny Stewart is a former Crown in Amway.  His business was terminated due to a lawsuit in court.  This guy had a monster organization with lots of diamonds in it. Many of his successful leaders were terminated too.

# 23: Brig and Lita Hart

If you’ve been in MLM even one day, you’ve heard of Brig Hart. He left Amway and became the top earner in Mona Vie (he has since sold his Mona Vie business). His Amway business was terminated in 2003 over a dispute with the Business Support Materials.

# 22: Dan and Bunny Williams

Dan and Bunny Williams founded their business in 1966 on the simple strategy of helping others reach whatever goals they wanted to reach.

This strategy, combined with hard work, set the pace for strong growth from the onset. Within three months, their business was earning a profit. The Williamses achieved Diamond in two years, Triple Diamond in five years, and Crown in just 13 years. In 1979 they reached the highest award (at that time) of Crown Ambassador.

Dan is a second-generation Independent Business Owner. “My dad came into the business nine months before we did and went Direct soon after we got involved,” he says. “Both of us were sponsored by my sister Jan and her husband Bill, who served on the Board. Dad sponsored two Platinums in three years, allowing him to retire in Florida at the age of 65. He gave us all a legacy of belief in God, hard work, balance in our lives, and a wild sense of humor.”

Bunny Williams passed away on August 13, 2006. Dan Williams passed away on August 9, 2012 in Austin, TX. Source

# 21: Joe and Helyne Victor

This classy couple was one of the early distributors with the company and they helped draft the original sales and marketing plan. They went on to become Crowns. Joe served on the Board of Directors during the early years. Their children and grandchildren are VERY successful in the business, too.

# 20: Jere and Elieen Dutt

Jere and Eileen Dutt were the first Diamonds within Amway, reaching that milestone in 1964. That’s why I put them on this list. They were part of Nutrilite with Rich Devos and Jay Van Andel for several years, prior to helping them start Amway. They qualified Crown in 1979 and their business is now run by their grandchildren.

# 19: Robert (Bob) Crisp

Robert Crisp is a former Triple Diamond who built a team of more than 200,000 distributors. He eventually sold his business in 1984 and went on to become an author, speaker and consultant in the network marketing industry. His book “Raising a Giant” is an industry favorite.

# 18: Rick and Sue Setzer

Rick and Sue Lynn Setzer are frontline to Yager Family. They have many huge pins in their downline, including Double Diamonds Hal & Susan Gooch; Bill Childers; Brig Hart. Founders Crown Ambassador Tim Foley. Triple Diamond George and Ruth Halsey. Source

# 17: Robert Angkasa

Robert was an engineer & banker who worked in several companies in Sydney before he was hired by a famous private bank in Indonesia. Getting this job was a major accomplishment for him and what he always wanted. His career moved very fast. His last position before he resigned to run his Amway business full-time (1994) was AVP. He admits that sometimes he doubted his decision to build the Amway business. However, everything changed after he went to a Network 21 function. Now he has a huge business, he made his legacy but he thinks this is just a beginning.

When it comes to Amway Indonesia, Robert Angkasa is the ultimate success story. He is currently a Crown in Amway and participates in the Network 21 line of sponsorship.

# 16: Ron and Georgia Lee Puryear

The Puryear’s are the leaders of the World Wide Dream Builders. When I was in Amway, I was part of their organization. They went Diamond in 1976 and Founders Crown in 2004. They have more than 500 Diamonds in their downline organization. Most of those Diamonds are in Korea and are part of Leonard and Esther Kim’s organization. Sadly, Ron passed away in 2016.

# 15: Jody and Kathy Victor

This couple was second generation successes in Amway and their son is currently in the business as a Platinum. They went Crown in 1981 and have a big business throughout the world. They are the leaders of the MMP line of sponsorship and they have distributors in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Greece.

# 14: John and Jennie Belle Crowe

This couple joined Amway in 1973 and went Diamond in 1979. They went Founder’s Crown in 2013 and are the leaders of the UR Association. For a long time they were part of Britt World Wide, but they decided to form their own Amway Motivation Organization (UR Association) in 2007.

Kaoru Nakajima built Amway Japan! He is a Double Crown Ambassador with 50 FAA points. He leads the Heckel organization and his team is located mostly in Japan and the United Kingdom. He joined Amway in 1982 and was the first Double Crown Ambassador in the world. He is still very active in the business.

To put things in perspective.

To qualify as a Double Crown Ambassador a qualified Platinum must have 40 legs qualify at the Silver Producer level for at least 6 months within the Amway Performance Year. Source

Think about that for a moment. That means he had FORTY solid legs in his team!

# 7: Peter and Eva Muller-Meerkatz

This couple has/had 28 Diamonds on their first level. That is amazing! They are currently FAA 50 Crown Ambassadors with Amway. They joined the business in 1976, hit Diamond in 1977 and Crown in 1978. As of 2012 their team has more than 500 Diamonds and 750,000 people in it. They are based out of Germany.

# 6: Bill Britt

While I was in Amway, Bill Britt was my favorite Diamond (close tie with Dave Severn). Bill and Peggy Britt had a huge team and Bill was extremely passionate about Amway, freedom, and entrepreneurship. He is the founder of Britt World Wide.

It is said that Bill Britt has more than 1.5 million distributors in his downline! That’s no small feat. He and Peggy were Founder’s Crown Ambassadors with 40 FAA points. Sadly, Bill Britt passed away in January 2013.

# 5: Jim and Nancy Dornan

Jim is the pioneer of Network Twentyone, a line of sponsorship within Amway. Jim and Nancy have an Amway business that spans the globe, in countries such as the U.S., Canada, China, Sweden, India, Turkey and much more. They are Founder’s Crown Ambassadors with 55 FAA points. Sadly, Jim passed away in 2013, after a long battle with cancer.

Network Twentyone, is a training and support organization for distributors working with the Amway business. It was founded in 1990 by Jim and Nancy Dornan, distributors with Amway, originally to support their Amway network in the United States and Australia. Network Twentyone provides complete “turnkey business support solutions” for Amway Independent Business Owners from meetings and function production including education, recognition and motivation to web applications and multi-media products designed to aid you in building a profitable Amway business. Source

# 4: Max Schwarz

Max joined Amway in 1977 and rose through the ranks quickly. He hit the Crown Ambassador rank in less than five years. He is currently a Founders Crown FAA 60, making him one of the most successful distributors in the company. His downline is located in Europe, in countries such as Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Russia, Poland and Czechoslovakia. He is the leader of the Schwarz Organization.

To qualify as a Crown Ambassador a qualified Platinum must have 20 legs (3 must be in market), each of which qualifies at the Silver Producer level for at least 6 months of the fiscal year or attain Diamond qualification for 6 months of the fiscal year (6 legs must be in market), and generate at least 27 FAA credits during the fiscal year. Source

# 3: Foo Howe Kean and Shu Chen

This couple is at the top ranks of Amway in many different markets. They have over 800 downline Diamonds and 30 Crown Ambassadors in their downline. Think about that for a moment! They participate in the Crador line of sponsorship and they have a large business presence in China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, and the United States. According to some reports online, they are within the top 20 earners in the ENTIRE MLM Industry.

# 2: Dexter Yager

When I think of an Amway Diamond, the first person that comes to mind is Dexter Yager. He and his wife Birdie joined Amway in 1964 and built quite perhaps the largest organization within Amway. They are the leaders and founders of the InterNET line of sponsorship.

Their business spans the globe and does business primarily in the U.S., Canada, India, Colombia, Mexico and Guatemala. Dexter is pretty much the founder of the “systems” within Amway. Currently, they are Founder’s Crown Ambassadors with 65 FAA points.

Many people outside of the Amway business, including myself, consider Dexter Yager the GODFATHER of MLM. Sadly, Dexter passed away in January 2019.

When the Dream is Big Enough, the Facts Don’t Count. ~ Dexter Yager

# 1: Barry Chi and Holly Chen

I had to put this couple as the top Amway Diamond Distributors of all time.

This couple built a dynasty in Amway. They joined the business in 1982. To the best of my knowledge, they have the biggest team on this list. They have more than 2,000 Diamonds in their organization and well over one million distributors. They were the second Double Crown Ambassadors in the world.

They are leaders of the Plum Blossom line of sponsorship. Their business spans the globe and they are Founder’s Crown Ambassadors with 77 FAA points. Their two sons are also Diamonds with Amway.

Amway is THE pioneer in the network marketing industry, paving the way for many other MLM Companies. Every network marketer in every company should be grateful for what Amway did for our industry. Their victory over the FTC in 1979 was a HUGE victory for our entire industry.

Amway has so many success stories through the years. From what I found online, there are approximately 3 million Amway Distributors worldwide, of which several thousand distributors maintain the Diamond level pin, or higher.

If you added in all of the former and inactive Diamonds, I’d be willing to be that number would be well above 10,000 Diamonds. Since this information is not published, this is simply my best guess.

Amway 9 CORE Steps

Today, I’m going to share the Amway 9 CORE steps. These are the “steps to success” in Amway, as taught by many successful Amway Diamonds.

What you will see in the paragraphs below are the same steps I was taught to follow.

One of the first lessons my upline Platinum taught me was the Amway 9 CORE Steps. The steps were typed up in a little booklet (like a pocket calendar) that I was given when I first joined the business. I was told that if I followed these steps, I would be achieve success in the Amway business.

In a nutshell, the nine steps are:

  1. Read 30-Minutes Daily
  2. Listen to One Tape per Day
  3. Attend All Functions
  4. Show the Plan
  5. Use the Products
  6. Make Retail Sales
  7. Be Teachable
  8. Be Accountable
  9. Counsel with Upline

In the paragraphs below, I will elaborate more about each step and share my own insights on it.

Step # 1: Read for 30-Minutes a Day

If there is one thing I am eternally grateful for from my Amway experience, it’s that it got me reading books on a daily basis. For some 20-years now, I have devoured self-help, business, leadership, and network marketing books. Doing so has had a tremendous positive impact on my life.

I love books. Reading books is one of the fastest ways to learn a new skill. You can read an auto-biography and study a successful person’s life in just 8-10 hours. What took them a lifetime to learn, you can learn in just a few hours. How awesome is that?

Reading “good” books has changed me as a person. It has helped me grow and develop my potential. Reading has improved my mindset, attitude, and outlook on life. I know it will have the same impact on you if you decide to read every day.

As an Amway rep, I was told to read for minimum 30-minutes per day. Our leaders even had a suggested reading list. The purpose of reading their suggested books was to improve my attitude, mindset, and skill-set.

My Takeaway: You feed your body every day, so why not feed your brain every day? Read non-fiction books to learn new skills that will benefit you in life and in business. If you are too busy to read, or don’t enjoy reading, listen to audio books as you drive to and from work each day.

Step # 2: Listen to a Tape a Day

During my time in Amway, we were encouraged to listen to at least one tape a day. These tapes were Amway training and motivational tapes. In most cases, the tapes were successful Emerald and Diamond level Amway distributors giving motivational talks. They shared their successes and failures in the business and told you their story.

I loved listening to the tapes. I learned a lot of new skills from doing it, and it kept me inspired. After leaving Amway, I still listen to personal development audio programs, just not Amway tapes.

I recommend you listen to 30 minutes of audio training per day from successful sales trainers such as Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, and Tom Hopkins. Study subjects such as marketing, sales, lead generation, success thinking and entrepreneurship.

Turn off your car stereo and turn on automobile university. You can also listen to podcasts on your phone. If you listened to 30-minutes of audio training for a year, about one specific topic, you Would become an expert on that topic. Isn’t that exciting?

My Takeaway: There is so much good educational content on iTunes, YouTube, podcasts, CDs, etc. Listen to at least 30 to 60-minutes of something positive every day. This is easy to do if you incorporate it during your drive time, lunch break, exercise time, etc.

Step # 3: Attend All Functions & Events

The Amway functions were VERY, VERY fun and powerful. There is nothing like walking into an arena or auditorium with 10,000 to 20,000 people who are excited about life!

These events were electrifying. My favorite function was Free Enterprise Day. We were encouraged to attend local, regional, and the big quarterly events.

Since leaving Amway, I still attend events. I attend several conferences each year to meet new people and learn new skills.

Events are very powerful in network marketing. It gives people social proof and create camaraderie. Events are the glue that keeps your business together. Network marketing is an event-driven business.

My Takeaway: Never, ever miss an event for any reason. Promote all events and attend all events. Remember, we build our business from event to event. Either you need the event or the event needs you. If money is tight, budget for each event, so you can afford to go.

Step # 4: Show the Plan

We were taught to show 10 presentations per month OR sponsor 2 serious business builders per month, whichever happened first. At the end of the day, your network marketing business won’t grow much if you aren’t sharing the business with new people each day.

Knowing what I know now, 10 presentations a month isn’t enough, in my opinion. With the invention of webinars and videos, I believe you should show MINIMUM 30 presentations per month, since you don’t need to meet face to face with people to do a presentation.

In addition, you must realize this business is a numbers game initially. You must expose the products and business opportunity to A LOT of people to find your serious business partners, part-timers, and customers.

My Takeaway: If you do nothing else from these Amway 9 CORE Steps other than show the plan consistently, there is no doubt in my mind you can build a big Amway business. The more exposures you make, the more money you will make!

Step # 5: Use the Products

Be your own best customer. If you own any type of business you should be your own best customer. You need to use your company’s products so you can develop your own product story and build up your conviction and belief in the products.

You don’t want to be a product expert, but you do need to have a basic understanding about what the products can and can’t do. You need to know the BENEFITS of each product.

You should be passionate about your company’s product line. It makes a huge difference when you are talking with other people.

My Takeaway: Be loyal to your own store and never use a competitor’s product. Be your own best customer! If you aren’t convinced enough to use your own products, how can you expect someone else to buy from you?

Step # 6: Make Retail Sales

Every business needs customers. Although there isn’t a huge emphasis on retailing in network marketing, it is a critical component of the business.

Retailing and Recruiting are two most important activities you need to focus on in your Amway business

As I see it, everyone should have two to ten personal RETAIL customers at all times. This gives you immediate retail profits. Also, it’s hard to teach your team members how to get customers if you don’t know how to get customers yourself.

On a side note, MLM is not about one person retailing a lot of products. It’s about building a network and having every distributor acquire and maintain several retail customers. That is the key to success: a lot of people each doing a little bit.

My Takeaway: Sell a few products every month to legitimate retail customers and then spend the rest of your time team building.

Step # 7: Be Teachable

Before you can become a teacher and leader, you must be the student first.

You start out as the apprentice. Then you master your skills and become a teacher. Ultimately, your job is to teach people, to teach people, to teach people. That is what successful MLM leaders are really good at.

This is a teaching and coaching business, not a business of recruiting and selling.

Also, humble yourself and follow someone successful. Follow their lead. Don’t act like a know it all or try to reinvent the wheel. It’s much easier and smarter to learn from someone else’s mistakes than try to figure everything out on your own. Keep an open mind and be a sponge. When you are around your successful mentor, do more listening than talking!

My Takeaway: Stay coachable and hungry and never let your success go to your head.

Step # 8: Be Accountable

Do what you say and say what you do. In today’s society, that’s pretty rare. Be a person of integrity and if you say you are going to do something, do it! Be reliable to your team and upline. Find an accountability partner, if possible, and check in with them daily.

Building the business is like going to the gym. Most days you aren’t motivated to go. It’s easy to come up with a reason to skip a day. However, if you have an accountability partner, you are less likely to miss a day at the gym. If you have an accountability partner in your Amway business, there’s a higher likelihood you will put in the work consistently.

My Takeaway: Talk is cheap. Watch the feet not the list. Make sure your actions align with your words. It’s easier to stay “engaged” and “active” in your business if you have someone to be accountable to (other than yourself).

Step # 9: Counsel with Your Upline

During my time in Amway we were taught to get 100% of our advice from our active, successful upline and to avoid cross-line communication at all times.

This advice does have some merits, considering your upline has a financial stake in helping you become successful in the business, whereas cross-line reps have no stake in helping you succeed.

That being said, I think we can all learn from each other. I realize your upline mentor has a vested interest in your success, but I don’t believe it’s smart to follow anyone blindly. By all means, seek their counsel and input, but still trust your instincts and get your guidance from a variety of sources.

Just make sure the person you get advice from is SUCCESSFUL in their own right, and has YOUR best interest in mind.

My Takeaway: All successful people I know of have a coach or mentor and they HUMBLE themselves to listen to that person. Stay plugged in with your ACTIVE upline at all times!

Putting it All Together

In summary, these are the Amway 9 CORE Steps. They aren’t rocket science, but I do believe that if you follow them you will make significant progress in your Amway business. I would also caution you do the following things:

  1. Always trust your instincts.
  2. Don’t spend money just to spend money; monitor your business expenses wisely.
  3. Going to functions and events will not build your business in and of itself; only retailing, recruiting, and team building does.
  4. Seek advice from several mentors, just make sure they are qualified and successful and care about your success.
  5. Acquire and maintain at least two to ten retail customers at all times.
  6. Focus 90% or more of your “work hours” on income producing activities: retailing and recruiting.
Suggested Reading

If you’re looking to succeed in Amway, here are a few books I recommend. The first one is Empire of Freedom. This is a book covering the Amway story. It’s a great read. I also suggest The 45 Second Presentation by Don Failla and Beach Money by Jordan Adler. These last two books will teach you the fundamentals of network marketing. Final Thoughts

Amway Diamond Traits

I’ve studied a lot of Diamonds in Amway. I enjoy studying successful people in many different network marketing companies, to be honest with you. After all, success leaves clues. Here are some “common” trends I have noticed with the Amway Diamonds.

  1. Most of them have been with the company at least 20 years, if not longer.
  2. Most of the Diamonds took minimum five to ten years to get to the Diamond level; a few hit it quicker than that, and many took much longer than that.
  3. Most of the Diamonds have one to five “Diamond” legs, and several other smaller Platinum sized legs.
  4. Most have the Diamonds have sponsored at least 100 to 200 people personally, if not more than that.
  5. Most of the Diamonds in this message have their own system.
  6. The Diamonds are extremely committed to their business; most worked the business on a full-time basis right out the gate, even when they had a day job.

Final Thoughts

In summary, Amway is the biggest MLM Company in the world. It has a long and proud history. The people on this list are responsible for much of the company’s success. All of these individuals built huge organizations within Amway. Some of the distributors are still alive and some are deceased. Some are still with the company and others aren’t.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my list of the top 27 Amway Diamond Distributors of all time. Feel free to leave a comment below to share your thoughts about who you think are the most successful Amway Diamonds of all time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Please know this upfront:

  • I do not know specifically how much money any of these distributors made in their Amway business or with their system income, since that information is not public record.
  • I do not know the exact number of people in each person’s team.
  • I do not know how long each one of these distributors was partnered with Amway.
  • Not all of these distributors are still with the company.
  • Not all of these distributors are still alive.
  • This list covers Amway distributors from the company’s inception to the present day.
  • I do not know which people on this list are still “qualified” as Diamonds.
  • I do not expect you to agree with everyone I have on the list, or the ranking, it is just my opinion.
  • The ranking is based off what I personally know about each person, how long they have been with the company, their pin level, how many successful leaders and distributors they have on their team, and the level of the influence that I thought they had in the business and the industry.
  • Amway is a registered trademark and I am not affiliated with the company in any way.

Before I give you the list, I should clearly define what an Amway Diamond is.

  • Have 6 qualified legs (groups of people) that do 7500 PV (points) for 6 out of the 12 calendar months during the fiscal year.
  • Three of those 6 legs must be in market (same country).
  • You must maintain 7500 PV outside of those six legs for six of the twelve calendar months.
