The Wheel of Life
What is the Wheel of Life?
The Wheel of Life is a self-assessment tool used to gauge your satisfaction in various areas of your life. It is a helpful tool to use with goal setting as it can help clarify what areas of your life you want to grow.
Wheel of Life Categories
The Wheel of Life is typically broken down into 8-10 categories. For our purposes, let’s assume the following categories:
- Health/Fitness: Includes physical, mental, and emotional health.
- Physical Environment: Your surroundings.
- Personal Growth: Learning and self-development.
- Community: Includes friendships, neighbors, social groups, etc.
- Career/Business: Job and career path.
- Spirituality: Spiritual practices based on your belief system.
- Fun/Recreation: Time spent on things that bring you happiness and joy for life.
- Wealth/Finances: All things money related.
- Family: Includes children and all extended family members.
- Significant Other: Spouse, life partner, romantic relationship, etc.
With that said, you can pick whatever categories mean the most to you. Remove categories from the list that don’t speak to you. If adding new categories, you can pick something on your own, or take existing categories and break them out further. For example, you could break the health/fitness category out into separate categories for physical and mental/emotional health.
Whatever categories you want on your wheel is up to you. Some questions to ask yourself when determining your categories are:
- What categories represent my whole life?
- What categories will make me feel complete?
How to Complete Your Wheel of Life
To complete the wheel of life, you will rate your current level of satisfaction for each category. This should be a quick snapshot rating. Don’t spend a lot of time overanalyzing it. It’s based on how you feel.
The center of the circle is zero. That’s the lowest score. The outer edge of the circle is 10 which is the highest score. A rating of 10 would mean you are completely content and satisfied with your life in that category. What makes you completely satisfied in each category is completely up to you. You might not even need to be a 10 in every category to feel good about it.
When completing the wheel, be honest with yourself. You don’t have to share your results with anyone else. Don’t rate your categories based on other people’s expectations. Don’t compare yourself to others. We’re talking about your life after all. Everyone’s life is unique to them so base the number off of your satisfaction with your life.
Once you know what number (i.e 0-10) you want to rate a particular category, color the category up to that number. So if you rate Fun/Recreation a 5, you would color that section from 0-5. Continue this process for every section until they are all colored in.
Evaluating Your Results
The wheel represents your life, and your self-assessment scores represent the balance of your life. Take a moment to look at your wheel as a whole. Is it a perfect circle? Probably not and that’s okay.
Most people tend to neglect certain areas of their life while giving a lot of attention to others. If you’re a career driven person, your career and wealth categories may rate high whereas other categories, like fun, may rate low. But it’s not about being strong or weak in certain categories, it’s about realizing where you are currently placing your attention, and where you want to place it going forward.
Now that you know where you are currently at, you can start setting some goals. Here are some questions to consider when evaluating your results:
- What areas did I score low/high on?
- Were there any surprises?
- How important is each category to me?
- What categories do I value the most?
- What are my priorities in life?
- What would be my ideal score in each category to feel happy?
- What steps can I take to reach my ideal score?
No one is perfect, but a score of 10 in each category is the goal. And remember, you decide what a 10 looks like.
The Importance of Life Balance
What do the following scenarios have in common?
- A person who is very driven, has accomplished all of the career goals they set out to, but still feels unhappy.
- A parent who’s living their dream of raising a family, and yet they feel constantly stressed, drained, and overwhelmed.
- A celebrity who has all of the fame and fortune they could ask for but whose personal life is a wreck.
The answer is they are all missing balance in their lives.
Many of us will have a tendency to put our attention in specific categories, and when we still don’t feel happy, we will put more and more attention in those same categories. This never works and will lead to chronic unhappiness. If you rated yourself high in some categories but are still unhappy, it means you are missing balance.
The whole point of doing the wheel of life exercise is to find balance, satisfaction, and enjoyment in life. Now take your self-assessment results, set some goals, and start living the life of your dreams.

Everything you desire is wanted because it’s within your power and destiny to manifest it. You’re the dreamer you’ve been looking for and manifesting your dream life is how you’re able to best heal and inspire the world.
In this potent message you’ll be reminded of your superpower of focused attention and how you can consciously use this power of yours to manifest everything your heart most deeply desires.
When life is busy, or all your energy is focused on a special project, it’s all too easy to find yourself off balance, not paying enough attention to important areas of your life. While you need to have drive and focus if you’re going to get things done, taking this too far can lead to frustration and intense stress.
That’s when it’s time to take a “helicopter view” of your life, so that you can bring things back into balance.
This is where we can help. Commonly used by professional life coaches, it helps you consider each area of your life in turn and assess what’s off balance. As such, it helps you to identify areas that need more attention.

Rate Your Present Life
The Wheel of Life is powerful because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way your life is currently, compared with the way you’d ideally like it to be. It is called the “Wheel of Life” because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel. The concept was originally created by Paul J. Meyer, founder of Success Motivation® Institute, Inc.
Identify What You Want to Improve
1. Brainstorm Life Areas
Start by brainstorming the six to eight dimensions of your life that are important for you. Different approaches to this are:
- The roles you play in life, for example: husband/wife, father/mother, manager, colleague, team member, sports player, community leader, or friend.
- Areas of life that are important to you, for example: artistic expression, positive attitude, career, education, family, friends, financial freedom, physical challenge, pleasure, or public service.
- Your own combination of these (or different) things, reflecting the things that are your priorities in life.
2. Write These Down on the Wheel of Life
Write down these dimensions on the diagram, one on each spoke of the life wheel.
3. Assess Each Area of the Life Wheel
This approach assumes that you will be happy and fulfilled if you can find the right balance of attention for each of these dimensions. And different areas of your life will need different levels of attention at different times. So the next step is to assess the amount of attention you’re currently devoting to each area.
Consider each dimension in turn, and on a scale of 0 (low) – to 10 (high), write down the amount of attention you’re devoting to that area of your life. Mark each score on the appropriate spoke of your Life Wheel.
4. Join up the Marks
Now join up the marks around the circle. Does your life wheel look and feel balanced?
5. Think About Your Ideal Level for Life Balance
Next it’s time to consider your ideal level in each area of your life. A balanced life does not mean getting 5 in each life area: some areas need more attention and focus than others at any time. And inevitably you will need to make choices and compromises, as your time and energy are not in unlimited supply!
So the question is, what would the ideal level of attention be for you in each life area?
Plot the “ideal” scores around your life wheel too.
6. Take Action
Now you have a visual representation of your current life balance and your ideal life balance. Where are the gaps? These are the areas of your life that need attention.
And remember that gaps can go both ways. There are almost certainly areas that are not getting as much attention as you’d like. However, there may also be areas where you’re putting in more effort than you’d ideally like. These areas are sapping energy and enthusiasm that may better be directed elsewhere.
Once you have identified the areas that need attention, it’s time to plan the actions needed to work on regaining balance. Starting with the neglected areas, what things do you need to start doing to regain balance?
In the areas that currently sap your energy and time, what can you stop doing or reprioritize or delegate to someone else? Make a commitment to these actions by writing them on your worksheet.

1. Think about what you’d like your dream life to be
Before you can begin to manifest your dream life, you need to know exactly what you want your dream life to look like.
You see, whatever you focus your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs on is what will manifest in your reality.
So if you don’t know what to focus on, you might end up manifesting something that you don’t want!
We all have different ideas of what makes up our dream lives.
For some, it’s having the ability to travel the world by RV, but for others, it’s having the ability to sit on the beach, drink margaritas and read a book while their children play in the sand.
When you think of your dream life, what do you see?
What images come to mind?
If you need ideas, here are some examples:
- Traveling around the world twice a year.
- Living in a cabin in the mountains so you can hike and ski whenever you want.
- Laying on the beach every day.
You need to build up a mental image of what you want your life to be like and include any details.
When you know exactly what you want, the universe will be able to deliver.
The clearer you are about what you want, the easier it is for the universe to deliver.
2. Use the power of your thoughts
Most people don’t realize this, but you have the power to manifest anything you desire just by thinking about it with enough conviction.
Your thoughts really do have power.
Your desires are automatically fulfilled when your thoughts are pure, clear, and precise.
The only problem is that our thoughts are polluted with things like fear, doubt, and worry most of the time.
Because of this, we don’t manifest what we want. We manifest what we don’t want!

Feel those feelings as intensely as possible – the more intense your emotions, the better.
The best way to practice visualization is by closing your eyes and imagining yourself in the situation with as much detail as you can.

When it doesn’t happen within a few weeks, they think it won’t ever happen and give up.

The conscious mind refers to the individual perception of thoughts, sensations, and experiences.
The subconscious mind is like the hard drive of your mind, it collects data, information, and thought patterns in order to put reason behind the actions you take.
Unfortunately, the subconscious mind develops through repetition and has no filter to weed out the good experiences from the bad.
This means that sometimes we unknowingly develop patterns that do us more harm than good.
This is how limiting beliefs are formed.
Your subconscious mind develops thought patterns that conflict with your manifestations and this causes misalignment.
For instance, you could tell yourself; “I want to manifest my dream home”.
Your conscious mind will agree, but deep-seated subconscious thought patterns may not…
This is the number 1 reason why many people struggle to manifest.
Now, this brings me to manifestation technique number 3.
Subconscious reprogramming is rewriting negative or unwanted thought patterns and replacing them with the right signals to help you manifest.

- Invite your friends for a night out.
- Be there for someone that is feeling down.
- Lend a favor to a friend.
- Volunteer at a local soup kitchen.
- Donate to charities.
- Volunteer at an animal shelter.
- Clean up litter from your local park.
One thing I’ve been doing lately is picking up plastic from my local beach every time I go for a walk, it makes me feel good to help my environment even if it’s something little, every bit counts!
You see we are all a collective consciousness, it’s important to look out for one another!
Method 3. The Movie Method
The movie method is a simple way to visualize your desire before it manifests, without the hard work of trying to imagine everything for yourself.
When it comes to applying the law of attraction visualization is important, seeing is believing right?
But for me, when I first started visualizing I found it super hard to get clear with my desires.
I knew what I wanted to manifest, I justed didn’t know how to imagine the scenarios properly.
In fact, I often tried to envision every little detail but it never worked out properly, which led to a lot of stress and anxiety, it felt like an overwhelming chore than a fun activity.
This created resistance with my manifestations, which was not good at all!
I was fortunate enough to come across the “Movie Method” which made visualizing a breeze.
For this trick, all you need to do is watch a movie that reflects the desire you wish to manifest.
Then, make sure to pick a character in the movie and pretend you’re that person.
Perhaps you’re the rich guy walking down the street in his tuxedo flashing his Rolex.
Or maybe you’re the bride who finally found their one true love, after years of heartache and terrible relationships.
You can do this multiple times with multiple different movies, the most important thing is to find movies that relate to exactly what you want to manifest.

Method 4. Scripting
Scripting is writing about your desires as if they have already manifested.
Each day you write a journal entry about how your day went in a perfect world.
The idea is to envoke as much positive emotion as possible.
This is your own private fairytale about the future you!
Before you get started it’s a good idea to get into a state of flow.
Get those creative juices flowing!!
When you are in a good mood, inspired thought will come naturally.
To get into the flow state for creative scripting, you could:
- Do a visualization session.
- Go for a run or walk.
- Listen to uplifting music.
- Read some inspirational quotes.

I whipped together this script for manifesting a new car as an example, here take a look:
“Today was the day I picked up my brand new Audi R8!
I had woken up extra early because I was so excited, I couldn’t stop thinking about my brand new car!
I got up, had a shower, got dressed and had some breakfast, by that time it was around 7 am.
I was ready to go but the dealership didn’t open until 9am!
I couldn’t wait any longer so I phoned Michael who runs the dealership and asked nicely if I could please come in earlier, we agreed to 8am.
By then my heart was beating out of my chest, I couldn’t contain my excitement any longer!
So I had a glass of water, then called for an Uber.
The dealership is about 40 minutes from my house and it was 7:15, which meant I’d get there in perfect timing.
By the time I got to the dealership, I was so excited that I was nearly in tears!
I saw Michael waving out to me with a big smile on his face.
It was only he and I there which made the whole experience feel so exclusive and luxurious.
Then, he brought me around back and there it was, my AudiR8…
It was freshly polished jet black, rims and with a brand new bright red leather interior, it looked even better in real life.
Michael placed the keys in my trembling hands and I carefully opened the door and jumped into my new ride.
“Woohoo” I screamed as I started the car, the engine was purring and I gave it a few little revs before I left the dealership.
I manifested the car of my dreams, right now it’s sitting in my shed and I can’t wait to show all my friends tomorrow.
I would like to thank the universe, and of course myself for being such a wonderful creator.”
This scenario is just an example and it’s entirely up to you on what you write about.
All you need to do is set the right intentions and envoke a feeling of positivity and joy.
Have fun with scripting and get creative, that’s what it’s all about!
Method 5 Power Affirmations
An affirmation opens the door. It’s a beginning point on the path to change. ~ Louise L. Hay
Affirmations are positive statements/messages you tell yourself to “affirm” your goal or desire.
When you consistently affirm what you want, you restructure the subconscious mind.
This then creates a vibrational match between you and your desires.
Power affirmations are short, simple and powerful.
They can be spoken out loud or within your own mind.
The only difference between regular affirmations and power affirmations is the emotion.
So basically, when you recite a powerful affirmation, you want to search for the emotion first.
Find the excitement, the joy, the gratitude.
Allow yourself to really feel those emotions.
Experience the shift in your body.
Then recite your affirmation from the heart.
This technique enables you to send both thought and emotions out into the universe at the same time.
here are a few examples you can try…
- “The universe delivers everything I want in perfect timing”.
- “I am worthy of all things positive that come my way”.
- “I deserve total abundance and everything I desire from the universe”.
- “The universe has my back”.
- “I am worth it”.
These examples are a little broad, so you may need to tweak them to suit your needs.
Speak at as if you have it already, remember that you are worthy of everything the universe has to offer!
Method 6 Manifestation Box
A Manifestation Box is a sacred box that allows you to manifest using the energy of written messages, pictures, objects and other ideas that represent your desires.
Think of it as a direct mailbox to the universe.
First, you make your box.
It could be a shoebox, a container, or even an upcycled jewelry box.
You place what you want inside and the universe sends your represented desires into your physical reality!
What makes this technique so great is it helps release resistance.
So, if you are feeling overwhelmed or perhaps a little impatient waiting for your desires to take form, a manifestation box is perfect for letting go and allowing the universe to do its magic.
Here are some ideas of things you can put in your manifestation box:
- Pictures/photos or magazine cutouts that resemble your desires.
- Crystals (to amplify energy).
- Written affirmations.
- Sentimental heirlooms/gifts.
Personally, I love to use my manifestation box as part of a new moon ritual.
I simply fill it with the things that represent my desires and then leave it overnight on the window sill to soak up all of that new moon goodness.
I find this technique really powerful for successful manifestation.
Method 7 Aligning With The Right People
The greatest value of having good people around you is not what you get from them but the better person you become because of them. – Nishan Panwar.
This is less of a technique and more or a positive lifestyle adjustment.
But it’s something you really need to be aware of if you are serious about manifesting the lifestyle you desire.
You have probably heard the saying “you are who you hang out with.” and it’s so true.
We all absorb the energy that is around us, so you want to make sure that the people in your life are lifting your vibe. Not lowering it.
Think about the people who are already living the lifestyle that you want for yourself.
These are the people you want to align yourself with.
Now, you don’t have to know these people personally in order to share their good vibrations.
In fact, with the power of the internet, these positive influences are easier to come by than ever before.
You probably have a few people mind (I personally look up to people such as Tony Robbins And Kathrin Zenkina) but if you need help, try looking for inspirational influences through:
- Social Media.
Find people that you can relate too.
Perhaps the have overcome the same kind of struggles that you have experienced.
Allow yourself to be inspired, motivated and encouraged towards great heights of growth and expansion.
Method 8 Acting as if
“You must be the person you have never had the courage to be. Gradually, you will discover that you are that person, but until you can see this clearly, you must pretend and invent.” ― Paulo Coelho
Acting as if is a powerful visualization technique that will really change the game when it comes to manifesting your desires.
The idea is to go about your day as if you are already living out your perfect life.
In other words…
It’s a game of make-believe.
You don’t attract what you want… you attract what you are
So don’t just wish for your desires… act as if you already have them.
This technique is actually really fun. It’s like being a kid again…
You can be driving your beat-up old truck… while pretending you are in a V8 supercar…
You might be working at your dead-end job… While pretending you’re in your dream career…
When you bring your energy up to a level that matches the person you want to be…
You become that person.
It’s as simple as that.
Method 9: 17 Second Manifestation Method
Do you have a spare 17 seconds?
According to Abraham Hicks in his book “Ask and it is given” it only takes 17 seconds of pure, interrupted focus to activate the process of your manifestations.
17 seconds is all it takes to put your manifestations into motion.
And once your desires are in motion, all that’s needed is the momentum to keep them moving.
This method is not difficult to master…
It’s just a 17-second daydream…
When you wake up in the morning, don’t reach for your phone right away.
Instead, lay still for at least 17 seconds and daydream about your desires.
How good will it be to have the house, the car, the clothes, the relationship…
Sit with that thought for a bit…
And then get up and go about your day.
Now I am not saying that your desire will appear in 17 seconds…
But 17 seconds is all it takes to get on the path and into alignment with what you want.
This technique is quick, easy and powerful.
The more you do it, the more you can manifest.

Each of these manifestation techniques carries its own significant values, but one thing remains the same.
Your intention will always be the most important factor when it comes to manifestation.
The way you think, feel and act are all just the result of that intention.
So decide what you want out of life and dive right in.

But use them as tools…
Because the real magic already exists inside of you.

Method 10. 3:6:9 Method
The 3:6:9 Method is a popular manifestation technique for anyone who loves writing or journaling. The steps are simple: once you have chosen your goal, write it down in a journal three times in the morning, six times at midday, and nine times in the evening.
Method 11. Random Acts of Kindness
This method is for the altruist-at-heart: just share a random act of kindness with strangers when you are able. This could be sharing some extra cookies with a neighbor or refilling an expired parking meter. Bringing kindness and charity to your life will raise your vibrations and channel good energy towards you.
Method 12. Find a manifestation object
The best kind of manifestation object is something you will see often, like a watch or a bracelet. When you are manifesting, hold the object and connect your goal with it. Now, whenever you see the object, think about your goal and how it will succeed.
Method 13. Gratitude journal
Gratitude journals are loved far and wide by the manifestation community. Write down every day what you are grateful for; try to include long-term gratitude like family and health, with short-term gratitudes like a good day at work or a new friendship.
Method 14. Two cup method
This technique involves some setup: grab two cups and fill one with water. The full cup signifies your goal life while the empty cup signifies your reality. Visualize your goal life and imagine the success and positivity effortlessly flowing into your reality as you pour the water into the empty cup.
Method 15. Work from the Why
This method involves looking at your goal as a circle with the WHY in the middle, and outer rings of HOW and WHAT on the outside. Think about why you are setting the goal, then move to how you plan to accomplish it, then what a life with a successful goal looks like.
Method 16. Positive list
The positive list technique is a great tool for any manifestor who is feeling doubtful or anxious. All you have to do is write a list of all the positives in your life until you cannot think of more. Aim for at least 20 and bring your vibrations back to a level of positivity and success.
Method 17. Visualization
Visualization is essential to successful manifestation. Think about the life you want to live and create a vivid image of it in your mind. Who is there with you? How do you feel about living this life? What does your day-to-day look like?
Method 18. Share your goals
Choose a person you feel comfortable with and talk about your goal with them. Go in-depth about what you want and how you’re planning on achieving it. Talking about your goal with others can make it feel more real in your mind, and it will eventually become your reality.
Method 19. Letter from a future self
Write a letter to yourself from the perspective of a future you that has conquered your goals. Try to include what you did to get there, the positive feelings created by the future life, and encouragement to continue working towards it.
Method 20. Fake it ‘til you make it
You probably have heard of this phrase, but did you know it’s a type of manifestation? Faking it until you’ve made it opens room in your current life for your dream life to evolve. While you shouldn’t lie about yourself to others, you can ‘fake it’ by pretending to be more confident or even happier than you are at the current moment and it might just become your reality.
Method 21. Find friends who manifest
Surrounding yourself with like-minded people can work wonders for your manifestation goals. Find a few friends who are manifesting their own goals; aligning your energy with others who have similar mindsets can boost your vibrations.
Method 22. The “eavesdropping” method
This method doesn’t involve any actual eavesdropping – it’s a type of visualization! Imagine you are listening in on a conversation between two people who are discussing you after you have achieved your goals. What are they saying about you?
Method 23. Meditation
Meditation is an amazing technique to master if you want to be successful with your manifestation. By quieting the mind and freeing ourselves from daily stress, we are more open to receiving energy from the universe and we raise our vibrations.
Method 24. Start small and grow
If you’re dealing with fear or frustration surrounding your goals, try this method. Choose a small goal like “I am going to feel empowered today” and focus on manifesting it. Creating smaller goals will help you grow confidence in your manifestation power and bring the positivity you need to succeed with larger goals.
Method 25. 55×5 Method
Similar to the 3:6:9 method, this manifestation technique involves writing your goal out many times. Pick a goal or affirmation and write it down 55 times for five days in a row. The goal of this method is to bring your desire into your subconscious mind to match the energy of your conscious mind.
Method 26. Positive affirmations
Affirmations are great for beginners to experts alike when it comes to manifesting. Try starting your morning off each day with a few positive affirmations. Look at yourself in a mirror and choose an affirmation that you connect with, and repeat it out loud a few times. A few examples include, “I am the creator of my reality”, “What belongs to me will find me”, “I deserve a good and happy life”.
Method 27. “Wouldn’t it be nice if”
This method is a fun way to manifest your dream life. All you need to do is visualize your dream reality and finish the phrase “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” with a completed goal. This could sound like “Wouldn’t it be nice if I got a promotion at work this year?” or “Wouldn’t it be nice if I felt more confident?”.
Method 28. Vision Board
Vision boards are amazing for anyone who wants to bring some creativity to their manifestation. Create a collage (this can be physical or using an online tool like Pinterest) and add images of things you want to manifest. Hang your vision board where you can see it every day and channel positive vibrations towards the goals pictured.
Method 29. Clean space, clean mind
Is your bedroom or home cluttered? Spend a few hours reorganizing and deep cleaning until everything is back in its place. A disorganized space can create anxiety in the subconscious mind, while a clean home can help you focus on what’s important: conquering your dreams!
Method 30. Multi-Sensory Visualization
Multi-sensory visualization is a powerful technique that combines more than one sense in your manifestations. When you are visualizing your goal, create a deeper experience of what it will feel like by including senses like sound, smell, or taste. You’re living your dream life – what does it sound like? Are there any smells you notice? Can you feel the objects in your environment?
Method 31. Focus Wheel
A focus wheel can help you surround your goal with positive vibrations. Start with a circle and write down your goal in the center. Next, write down your positive ideas and beliefs for the goal around the center circle like wheel segments. For example, if you write down “I want to be a great parent for my child” in the center, your positive beliefs could include, “I’m good at listening” and “I feel confident in my abilities to guide my child”.
Method 32. Worry box
Start your manifestation journey with a worry box to let go of any nagging fears. Just write down any anxieties, worries, or fears you have about your goal and put them in a container. When you’re ready to let go of this fear, destroy your notes by burning or shredding them.
Method 33. Make a wish list
Writing down goals is a common theme in manifestation because it is so powerful! For this method, write a ‘wish list’ of what your dream life looks like. These wishes can be anything your heart desires and creating this list can help you focus on what you truly want to achieve.
Method 35. Scripting
Scripting is a manifestation method where you create a ‘script’ for the life you want to live. Every day, write a journal entry from the perspective of your dream life. You can write about your day-to-day activities, how you feel about living this life, and what you have accomplished.
Method 36. Multi-perspective visualization
Looking at your goals from different perspectives can not only help you find clarity in your desires, but it can also make your manifestation more powerful. Choose a person in your life that you’re close with and visualize your dream life from their perspective.
Method 37. The Pillow Method
The pillow method is a simple method that you can add to your manifestation practice. Write down a goal or affirmation and put the paper underneath your pillow. When you go to bed, thinking about the affirmation under your pillow to train your subconscious to believe the affirmation and channel your energy to succeed.
