Sept. 30, 2020 (Health Day News) — More than 60% of households with children in the United States have struggled with serious financial problems during the coronavirus pandemic.

  •  44% of Americans do not have enough cash to cover a $400 emergency. The median out-of-pocket cost for an unexpected medical expense is $1,000, which means nearly half of our country is just one accident away from being hit with a bill they cannot afford to pay.
  •  43% of student loan borrowers are not making payments. Tuition at public four-year institutions has increased by 213% in the past 30 years and nearly half of the 22 million Americans with federal student loans are either behind on payments or received permission to postpone payments due to economic hardship.
  •  38% of U.S. households have credit card debt. On average, they owe $16,048 with an APR of 16.47%. That means if they took 10 years to pay off their full balance, they would hand over $16,695 in interest to their card issuer, or more than twice what they initially spent.
  •  33% of American adults have $0 saved for retirement. There are no secrets to achieving financial freedom and the process is straightforward. But if you are unsure where to begin, here are some of the important habits and steps to get you there. You might reach this level faster pending on how aggressive you want to be with your income, budget, frugality, debt payoff, and investments.

This blog has been created to give you the gift of living the life of your dreams. It is a formula of success that will give you what you want in your life and the great thing is you can fit it into mere 1-2 hours a week and it can all be done without interruption to your life.

For many the secret to achieving this means earning more; for a few it means living on less. For most it requires 40+ years of toil and fading faith in Social Security. According to Tim Sales anyone can do it.

Here is what Tim did. He Made $60K a Month Doing the Business Part Time [A couple Hours a Day].

If you are currently juggling life, job, or business – we know your struggles. We also know how to get you out of it.

I personally started out in my network marketing career part-time while in the US Navy. I reached over $60,000.00 per month by my 24th month while still in the US Navy. Then I went full time and took it to over $150,000 per month.

Make a Single Decision

The first thing you MUST do when doing the business part-time is DECIDE to do it—no matter what you have to do or what you have to learn. If you don’t make this decision first, you will constantly be doubting or questioning yourself. 

You will also not attack every problem with a “solve it” mentality. Have you ever been given a job to do, but it wasn’t really firm?  Let’s say, you were watching TV and your mom said to you,”You should be doing your homework.”  Notice the word “should” in that statement?  “Should” creates a tiny escape, doesn’t it?  So you think, well, she didn’t say I HAD to do my homework right now. So with that little escape, you kept watching TV.  

When I say that you need to make a single decision, I mean leave yourself NO ESCAPES.

I know this probably seems obvious. But you and I both know there is doing something… and then there’s DOING SOMETHING!  So this is not something you’re going to “try.” Not something you’re going to “see” if it works. 

You’re going to do it, and complete it. 

I’ve seen distributors in my organization work their part-time business like they work on a project around the house. Your network marketing business is not a project. It can give you the greatest thing in the world – your time. It can give you true financial freedom.

Make a single decision to do it, and a single decision to learn whatever you must to get effective at doing it.

Your Three Assets

Whether you’re working the business full time or part time you have 3 resources. I prefer to call them assets instead of resources. The person working the business part-time has to be more efficient and effective with these three assets than a full time person. 

Your three assets are money, time and attention. Let’s discuss each briefly.

Money is a thing you can exchange for things you want or need. 

Time is your second asset. There is a limited amount of time per day, a limited amount per year and a limited amount in your lifetime. But worrying about how little time you have left–wastes time. Begin using time as an asset. Start each day knowing you have 24 hours to “use.”

Attention is your third and final asset. The definition of attention is: The ability or power to concentrate mentally. Time and attention go hand and hand with effective people. Optimally, where there is time being spent, there is also attention being spent. Your success is largely determined by how much of your attention you can devote at any one given time. Attention is easily dissipated and dispersed. Multi-tasking is praised today,but often dissipates what one is doing.

Each person in this world has these three assets to use. Whether one fares well or does not,in any field is dependent on the use of these three assets.

Budget Your Assets 

The definition of the word budget is: To plan in advance the expenditure of. You’ve probably mostly heard the word “budget” around money so let’s start with it. You budget or plan in advance how you will expend your money. Pretty simple. “I’m going to put away $100 each month for 12 months and go on vacation.” Or “I’m going to allocate $300 per month towards promoting my business.” Each of these examples demonstrates budgeting of money.

How might you budget time?  If you set your alarm clock to get up at 7am – you’re budgeting or planning in advance your time. If you set a window of time, say from 7 pm -9 pm as time that you will work your business, that’s budgeting your time.

How can you budget attention?  Earlier I mentioned that time and attention go hand in hand. See, sometimes people are present physically – but their attention is not there. Physically they’re in location A; mentally (in their mind) they’re in location B, C, D, E, and F. They’ve allocated the time to be in location A, but they’ve not budgeted or allocated their attention to be at location A. 

So the key or the trick with budgeting attention is when you allocate your time also allocate your attention to be there. If you budget your time to work your business, HAVE ALL YOUR ATTENTION THERE. When you allocate time to be with your family, have all your attention there and NOWHERE ELSE.

How I Personally Budgeted my Money, Time and Attention in the Beginning 

Obviously being on a military salary didn’t leave me a lot of money to spend on my business but that was okay–everyone starts somewhere. I started out allocating or budgeting $400.00 per month of my military income towards promoting my business. But what I also did was I allocated future earnings. Whenever I made profits, I put all of it towards promoting my business.

I had to work my regular job (Navy) between the hours of 7 am-5 pm. My window of time or my allocation of time to work my business was from 5 pm till 11 pm Monday through Friday. I could squeeze about 45 minutes to an hour of network marketing business during my lunch hour if I brought my lunch with me – which I did most days. My local group did a ½ day training on Saturday – so that left me the remaining ½ day on Saturday and all day Sunday to work my business. 

I Already Had a Full Schedule! 

Something I will share with you. My life was already full! 

Before I started my network marketing business it wasn’t like I didn’t already have all those time slots used up. Meaning, after I got off work I would go to the gym, I would have karate class, I had night school and on the weekends I would play golf or go on road trips with my friends or I would go home to see my family. All very important to me.

In fact, one evening I was driving back from a weekly business meeting and started doubting that I could do the business. My excuse was that I really didn’t have time to work the business. I called my upline and told him that I didn’t think I could continue because of how “busy” I was. 

I gave him my whole story. He said, “Tim, you just have to decide what you really want.”  He also recommended I write down how I spent my time. So after we got off the phone, I decided to see where I used my time. I thought I knew how I spent my day because I was with myself all day!

I started keeping a record of every 30 minutes. I set my watch to chime every 30 minutes, then I would note what I did in that prior 30 minutes. Yep- I used it all up. But being completely honest with you I saw that I had quite a bit of piddle time in there. 

I also noticed I was very rarely THERE with my attention. When I was playing golf, I was thinking about my business or work. When I was at work, I was thinking about whether I was going to workout chest or legs when I got off work, or I was thinking about my in-home meeting later that evening. 

When I was working my network marketing business my attention was often on worrying that I wouldn’t succeed, or concerned what people at work thought of me doing MLM. So basically my attention was NEVER there – wherever THERE was.

I decided to set my priorities on what I REALLY wanted. The word priority means the order or sequence of importance or urgency. In my own words that means – what am I going to do first. And then,what am I going to do second. And then,what am I going to do third.

And what I (personally) really wanted first was to not have to work in the Navy anymore. I wanted more money and wanted more freedom. I wanted to travel to exotic places (which the Navy did offer) but I didn’t want to have to return to the ship when the Navy was ready to leave that exotic place. I figured that what I would have to make to feel comfortable leaving the Navy was $10,000 per month as when I did leave I would be sacrificing my Navy retirement plan.

I set that as my target – $10,000 a month. 

If what I REALLY wanted first was to make $10,000/mo, then I would have to sacrifice the movies I would watch every week and the golf game that took five hours (minimum) every weekend. I put my golf clubs in the attic. I would cut my workout down from 90 minutes to just 30 minutes. I told my karate sensei I wouldn’t be coming to class anymore. I used to really enjoy shooting guns and would always attend gun shows on the weekends – I stopped that and sold most of my guns. I used to work on cars – I sold all my tools. I would do 50-100 mile bike rides on weekends with several of my Triathlon buddies; this also didn’t get me to $10,000 per month – so I stopped doing that and sold my bike.

Now,you might be thinking-there’s more to life than making $10,000 a month. But to me, there wasn’t. Because of the residual income aspect of network marketing this would be a ONE TIME SACRIFICE FOR A LONG-TERM REWARD. And I was willing to put 100% of my non-allocated self into it.

AFTER I achieved $10,000 a month, I could reinstate any hobby I wanted. But had I not made this all-out commitment, I wouldn’t have attacked every obstacle,every problem, and every subject with the unquenchable thirst to solve it.

Magic Happened 

It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I had thought to give up all those things. Once the decision was made, it was really quite easy. But man, did it change my business. When I presented my business–people saw in my eyes that I was committed. I sponsored more people, and more committed people – because of my commitment. This of course increased my asset of money.

Do you remember the definition of the word attention?  It’s the ability or power to concentrate mentally. And my ability to concentrate mentally increased dramatically after I made that landmark decision to make $10,000 a month – FIRST before I did anything else. When I would talk to friends and family on the phone I was much more purposeful–I wouldn’t be piddling around my room, washing dishes or doodling on a piece of paper. I WAS FULLY DOING WHAT I WAS DOING – FOCUSED ON THE CONVERSATION.

The point I’m really driving home here is that it was my decision and the follow-through of that decision that increased the time and attention assets. 

But just look at how dispersed my life was. I had a job – so my time and attention was on my job. Let’s designate my job as [A] and I was spending time and attention on [A]; then I had my MLM business and let’s designate that as [B]; then I had golf – [C]; then I had bike rides [D], shooting guns – [E], movies – [F], and karate – [G]. 

 So my money, time and attention were spread across A thru G. I wasn’t being great at any of them. My desire was to achieve them all – but in reality – I couldn’t achieve any of them because I was so dispersed.

As I look back, it was the single DECISION to DO the business that had the largest impact on my success. Could I have achieved my success without selling stuff and giving up my hobbies?  I don’t know. I think it was a big part of my success because it shifted my three assets into a single direction AT THE SAME TIME.

MKS-6: Success Made Simple with the Business of the 21st Century

If my son or daughter were to ask me, “Dad, what do I really need to know in order to be really successful in business?”

Here’s exactly what I’d tell them: Often the simplest changes can help you succeed in business. If you want your business to succeed, forget about searching for secrets, and focus on the following simple strategies.

[1]: Understand where your customers are coming from.

Understanding where your customers are coming from gives you clarity. Companies with a clear understanding of customer acquisition are in control. Successful businesses always seek to understand how customers find out about them. Asking a simple question such as “How did you hear about us?” can provide you with great insight.

The process is simple. You should be systematic about this and ask each customer. Make it part of your business culture to know. When you ask, “How did you find us?” you will learn whether it was word-of-mouth, email, search engine, advertising, a trade show, a mailer, or social media.

Understanding where your customers are coming from enables you to start scaling your business. It empowers you because it tells you what works and what doesn’t. Do more of what works and less of what is ineffective. Businesses that are more likely to succeed can tell you their most effective customer acquisition channels. Key Performance Indicators such as customer acquisition channels are essential to understanding and grow your business. 

2. Visualize success

Do you see your business successful? When you are visualizing success, you are doing more than daydreaming. You are actually thinking about ways to get there. Dreaming is passive, while visualizing is active. Picture what it would look like to reach your next goal. Do you want to get 100 new clients in the next six months? What would your business look like with 100 new clients? How would it impact the way you do business? How many people would you need to hire? Would you need to manage your company differently? Will you need more capital? Visualize your goals and think through possible scenarios.

Use the following steps to visualize success:

  • Picture exactly what you want. Be specific. If you are not clear about your goals, you will not get there.
  • See what it will look like. Associate your goal with an image. It could be a group of new customers or an improved version of an application. Whatever it is, associate it with an image.
  • Visualize daily. Repetition makes it more real.

3. Strive for optimal instead of maximum performance

Today the average passenger car engine is built to last at least 200,000, running at optimum performance. The biggest problem with running your business at maximum performance is that it is unsustainable. You will burn yourself and your staff out.

An optimally run business will outperform a business that is running at maximum performance for several reasons:

  • If you are in it for the long haul, you want an optimally run business. Getting the most out of yourself and your team sounds great, but in reality, it will burn out you and your staff before you have time to succeed. You will resent your business, and your employees will jump ship.
  • It would help if you only grow your business at a rate that enables you to manage and finance your growth.
  • You can expect people to work 14-hour days, but you won’t get the 14-hours worth of work. It is fine to pull an all-nighter once in a while, but it is not sustainable.
  • Just because you can sell 100 more new customers, it doesn’t mean that you can provide quality service. It is tempting to rev up your sales efforts, but you could harm your reputation in the long term.
  • Don’t grow your team faster than you can train them.

4. Build your business to last

Hopefully, you will sell your business one day and retire rich. – Reality check. Only about 1 out of 10 businesses are ever sold. – But, even if you sell your business one day, build it as if you would own it forever. Many businesses are started with a passion for a product or industry or the idea of entrepreneurship.

Here are a few key points to building a business that lasts:

  • Be patient.
  • Always chose security over growth.
  • Always strive to become an absolute expert in your field. When you are the best in your field, it is unlikely that anyone will beat you.
  • Focus on markets that are either growing or stable. Never enter a shrinking market even if it is attractive as a short-term prospect.
  • Go beyond your geographical area. If you can expand to the next city, that is good. If you can go global, that is great.
  • Continually innovate.
  • Do more for your customers than your competition is willing to do. Going the extra mile is what builds brands.
  • Manage your business as if you had expected it to live forever.

5. Engage with your target market

The most successful brands are great at building relationships with their audience. Focus on building relationships before you are selling. If you can manage to build an authentic relationship with your market, they will want to buy from you. People want to buy things from people they know and trust.

Here is how to define your target market:

  • Who are your best customers?
  • Who are your competitors’ customers?
  • List the benefits of your service.
  • Be very specific about your target demographics. Your B2C customer demographics should include: Age, Location, Income, Education, Family status, Occupation, Ethnicity. For B2C customers also consider psychographics such as: Personality, Attitudes, Values, Behavior, Interests, Lifestyles
  • Your B2B customer profile should include: Location, Industry, Number of employees, Revenue and Who are the decision-makers?
  • Can you attract enough customers to build a business?

6. Learn from your competition

Businesses that learn from the competition are winning. Think of your competitors as your teachers. There are several valuable things you can learn from competitors:

  • Pricing
  • Marketing
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Errors – learn and hopefully avoid them with your own business.

7. Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) and Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)

CAC tells you how much it costs to acquire a new customer. CAC is essentially your cost of sales and marketing. If you don’t understand this number, you can’t justify spending on sales and marketing. CLV is the profit attributed to the entire future relationship with a customer.

Understanding the relationship between your CAC and CLV is crucial. Both are real numbers with an actual dollar value you can measure. The numbers may change over time, and as they do, you will be able to make the necessary adjustments.

8. Emailing your prospects and your current and past customers

Email marketing offers a simple and cost-effective way to communicate, yet most businesses continue to ignore it. Sending one or two emails here and there is not enough. Proper email marketing is about staying in touch. The most effective tool to stay connected is email. You should email your lists at least once a month. Depending on your industry or your business’s seasonality, you might need to adjust the frequency, but the key is to email regularly. You should email at least three groups: your prospects, your current customers, and your past customers. Email your past customers to let them know what’s new. Maintaining contact through regular emails with your past customers gives you a chance to stay top of mind when they are ready to buy again.

9. Ask for feedback

Some businesses are concerned about asking for feedback because they are afraid of negative feedback. In business, no news is never good news. The reality is that your business will benefit more from negative feedback than no feedback. Feedback also gives an outsider’s point of view. It gives you a chance to understand what your customers like and don’t like. It helps you to make adjustments. Asking for feedback allows your customers to feel important.

Any business that wants to succeed should strive to improve continuously. When you ask for feedback, you show that you are willing to turn a wrong into a right. We often hear customers rave about companies that managed to turn a negative experience into a positive one.

Some frequently asked customer feedback questions are:

  • Would you refer us to your friends?
  • What did you like the most about our product/service?
  • What did you like the least about working with our company?

10. Decide the role of social media in your business

Social media empowers you to grow your focus of influence. It helps you introduce new products and services. Social media can be your tool to solicit customer feedback. There is nothing magical about social media. It is simply a tool you can use every day to improve your business and make you more competitive. It will provide you with opportunities to stay connected and in front of your prospects and current and past customers.

11. Manage your cash

Even successful businesses go bankrupt. When you run out of money, your business dies. It’s that simple. With cash in the bank, your business lives for another day. Managing cash is one of the most difficult tasks entrepreneurs deal with. You spend too much; you run out of money. You spend too little; you miss growth opportunities. There are many ways to increase cash in your business:

  • Expect the worst.
  • Cut costs.
  • Only spend on things that grow your revenue or must-have items.
  • Sell unused or unneeded assets.
  • If you are a service business, take large upfront payments for projects.
